New Trek 1500

I think your best bet would be e-bay. Contact the seller and see if they would consider shipping to your country if you have Paypal which pretty much guarantees payment...the biggest concern of any seller to buyers outside the US. I understand the cost differential you speak of because the same applies to automobiles. Consider alternatively using German e-bay or e-bay UK as well. They may also be more cost effective. You maybe able to find a shop in the US to ship you a bike but if you are looking for a new 1500, most shops won't ship even domestically due to the selling arrangement with Trek.

Yeah those are crazy prices. I have a couple co-worker that just travelled from New Mexico to Ireland (leixlip/dublin) on $500 US round trip flights. Why doncha come vist and ride our bosque trail along the rio grande? Seriously tho, if Treks have that kind of mark-up I'd look to other brands. Even for the $1k price range I'd choose to spend my $$ differently locally.

Make sure you are talking about the same bike. Look at the specs. For some strange reason Trek numbers their US domestic models differently to the international models. For example the Trek 1500 (US) has 105, Trek 1500 (international) has Ultegra. The Trek 2300 (US) is a Trek 2000 (international). I have no idea why they do this

Just make sure you factor in duty and or VAT if you get hit on it. A lot of the stuff which comes in by courier - which you would want to send this by, gets done for duty. You probably still will save money, but do the maths.

Also the fact that Trek's warranty is only valid in the country in which the bike was purchased. In other words you are assuming the risk that nothing will go wrong with it.

get a plane ticket and buy one someplace else.
