1. Just wanted to check in and let everyone know a little about myself.

My name is Mike and I am currently a active duty military police soldier. I have been in the Army for 16 and a half years. Currently stationed at Fort Drum Ny, so ya riding is going to start late this year. My wife Danielle and daughter Lily are my main supporters when it comes to riding. I am currently riding a Trek Madone 3.1. My only issue is that the weather is not helping with the riding. But it's nice to meet all you and I hope I learn a lot from everyone.

2. Welcome aboard!

3. Welcome aboard and thanks for your service!

The weather has been tough all around the country but finally seems to moving back toward Spring here in VA. I rode both days last weekend and plan to do the same again this weekend.

4. Same here, new to the site. My son bought me an all steel Motobecane commuter this past summer at a yard sale.I was addicted! I bought,I should say stole because I got it so cheap,a Masi Vincere frame. I've made several upgrades, pedals, stems, bars, seat, wheels, tyres and now have a relatively light rider.
I ride every morning, weather permitting, before workI live in Nashville,Tennessee so cold can be a problem as well as heavy rain.
About me; I drive a UPS truck,so I'm in good shape.I'm a 53 year old,11+ year cancer survivor( eerily similar to Lance Armstrong).
I feel like I'm getting stuck in a rut. I get out at 4:30 AM,before work, and ride for time, not distance. I went through the big"change" a couple of months ago,I dropped 24 lbs in about 2 months, that made everything better. I've conquered some challenging hills in my area,....Now what?
Looked for riding clubs/partners that fits my schedule.Other than weekends I can't find anything.

So,I'm looking for tips to challenge myself to build on where I'm at.

5. Dweezil,
Riding at 4:30 AM? Yikes, at that hour I'm still dreaming of riding in the TdF!!!

If you haven't already done so, you might check at the local health clubs. The club I belong to has a large number of people who work out early before work... but the club opens at 5:30 so it may be difficult finding partners for your schedule.

Regarding challenges, I enjoy Strava to keep track of my performance and challenge myself. I'll also set goals for rides such as 100 miles or 10k feet of climbing.

Good luck with your search.
Greg
