  2. Welcome! However next time you post, you might want to learn a thing or two
about grammar. You know, things like punctuation, adding spaces after
commas and so on. That would certainly make your posts easier to read.

PS: Don't they teach grammar in school anymore?

That's rich. A top-poster, who has no concern with reading context,
    criticizing someone's writing skills.

lines of text to read a one-word reply. Top posting rules!

Perhaps in your world. Not in the world of netiquette. When did you ever
read a book that required you read from the bottom up to the top in order to
    read for context?

I do agree with the using caps and punctuation assertion but in case you
hadn't noticed the newbie is using WebTV. Probably means they don't really
understand typing. Cut 'em some slack until she starts to say things like
"I thought this was a cooking newsgroup!" 😄

Who said that? I sure didn't. Top and bottom posting without trimming are
not the only choices in the universe. But of course that's not your issue.
Your issue is one of self-centered selfishness taken to the point that
reading context takes second place to what YOU want.

Welcome to the group, Bettina. Don't mind the flames; most people learn to

Magic keystroke: CTRL-END. Takes you to the end of any document, assuming
    the software is well behaved.

  13. Indeed! Someone *always* needs to bring up the ol' top vs bottom posting
    issue.

    Boring.

Welcome Bettina. Lots of good information (also about newsgroups and their
traditions) via the FAQ postings and FAQ Web site:

    http://vsack.homepage.t-online.de/nb/rfc_faq.html

Also in the classic introduction document for Internet users, RFC1855.
Here's a shorthand link I created to the original (with headers):

    http://tinyurl.com/orsqo

Don't pay attention to the snippy responses (they want you to, because most
of them have nothing better or more dignified to do). RFC1855 deals with
them also: Note the part under "3.1.1 General Guidelines for mailing lists
and NetNews" -- aka newsgroups -- about correcting other people's language.

This is the original public food-and-cooking forum on the Internet,
established January 1982 and immediately popular.
