  1. hello, all!
    I am a new low-carber-I started on Oct 1st and have lost 16 lbs...since I
have 80 more to go, and I cant really tell--my clothes arent loose, I am a
little bummed at the slow rate of weightloss, and am trying to keep a
    positive attitude....
The last time I started Atkins (almost exactly two years ago)I got pregnant,
so I quit, and halfway through my pregnancy, was advised by my midwife to
quit eating sugar and all refined carbs...still had a 9lb12 oz baby, god
only knows what she would have weighed and how fast I would have developed
gestational diabetes if we hadnt have nipped it in the bud....
The good news is: Atkins does not make you pregnant! I have been teased for
two years by the naysayer moms in our playgroup, who are ALL into
WeightWatchers and bring the most disgusting, low-fat high-carb food as
    snacks.

Thank you for informing us that Atkins does not make you pregnant. I did
    have some worries about that!

A low-carb lifestyle will result in weight loss. There are too many people
and too much evidence to deny this. It's a gold-plated fact. The amount of
weight loss and the time it takes will vary from one person to another, but
    it just happens.

I have nothing against people who are trying some kind of low-fat or point
system to lose weight, and if it works for them, great! I just happen to
believe that a low-carb LIFESTYLE is the best way to control weight. My
opinions are just my own, nobody has a final answer for everyone.

Hi Shanon, welcome to the group! You've STILL lost an average of over 2
lbs per week, so you're doing WELL! People lose at different rates. I
lose very slowly, but I'm very sedentary. The important thing is to
stay the course and it WILL pay off! Think of it this way: how much
would you have lost by now on Weight Watchers? My guess is probably not
as much and you eat BETTER and MORE on low-carb!

    Shannon,

Welcome to the group. 16 lbs and not showing - that's kind of reasonable given
that you're planning to lose about a 100 lbs. Just keep at it, always remind
yourself to get back to low carb even if you have gone off it for a while.
Meanwhile enjoy the good food, do a bit of exercise and with a positive attitude
    you'll do well.

    Cheers,
    Ada
