  1. Got my bike three months ago. Nothing fancy, Wal Mart special, mountain bike.
I put on a set of road tires, speedo', lights, horn and a small seat bag.

I needed to loose some weight and get in a little better shape. I was having problems
just mowing the yard, small yard at that.

I have been doing twenty plus miles every morning, best was thirty five. I ride early
because it is so hot now. I leave the house about 3:30, 4:00 am and ride two to
    two and a half hours.

Last time I mowed it took three hours as apposed to three days before I started
riding. I haven't lost much weight but dropped three sizes in my slacks.

I have about 1300 miles on my bike with no problems so far. I plan on getting
a better bike in the future. This one was just to see if I could do it.

I know compared to most of you I am a noobie, noobie, noobie, but I am proud
of what I have done so far. From three blocks taking two breaks to five miles
    with a five minute breather.

  2. Good work and congratulations. Clothing size will go down before weight. I suppose that it is because you are replacing fat with muscle and muscle is more dense than fat. Just keep it up and make plans now for your winter riding, whether that means that you will need to invest in either a trainer or rollers, or if you need to invest in winter riding gear and winter tires.

  3. Thanks for the reply.

I plan on joining the Adult Fitness Center. They have exercise bikes with a video
    screen to keep you entertained.

It only costs $25 a year and they have a full work out center and pool along with
trainers. It is less than a mile from the house so I can ride over even in cold weather.
    Well, moderately cold weather maybe.

I also row three or four hours at least three days a week.

    I build wooden boats BTW.

    My baby.

  4. Welcome aboard, BHOFM!

Sounds like your cycling is coming along nicely and you're seeing some postive results. Keep up the good work.

That's a nice looking boat you built. 😎

Do you live somewhere around Bull Shoals?

    Thanks for the kind words.

We live just five miles from Beaver Lake in Benton county. Wal Mart country!🙄

Funny story. We bought a trolling motor from Wal Mart, internet only item. It took
UPS three days to move it six miles.
