I should also mention I live in Canada, and as I noticed this bike only ships to the USA.

Miro9, do you have any local bike shops near to you?

I would suggest that working through a local bike shop when purchasing your first bike will be a big help to ensure that you get the right bike for your needs and a bike that will be the right size for you.

If you could find a really good used bike that you like, I think you'll find that you can a lot more for your money. Bikes are like cars; when you buy a new one you lose money as soon as it leaves the dealership.

I hope the other folks on the forum will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you can spend $600 to $700 and get a much better used bike, than if you spent $1000 on a new bike.

Just be patient and check the pricing given by your local bike shop against what you can find on the internet to make sure they aren't doing you badly on the price.

If they're smart they'll want to build a relationship with you based on good service, rather than just scalping you once for a bit of profit.

i honestly wish i knew a lot more about what i wanted and expected of my riding and the bikes and equipment offered before i rushed out and bought a shiny new child's toy instead of a great bike used.

yes, i agree. unless you have no clue whatsoever as to just what direction you plan on taking with the bike, just go spend your money on anything that will do for now.
