  1. Just ordered a pair of the new Record hubs. I noticed that the quoted
weights do not include the QR's.

Anyone know, or can weigh and report, the weight of the QR's?

    Just wondering,

Which Campag literature? If they really are that light with QRs
included, they're right up there with some very seriously weight
    weenie kit.

Wow, is this true? 116g for the front hub and 231g for the rear hub
and it INCLUDES SKEWERS?! That is incredibly light as the older
1999-2006 Record hub weighed something like 250g WITHOUT SKEWERS.
Assuming a QR Skewer weighs like what 80-100g, that means a new 2007
Campy Record rear hub weighs in between 151 to 131 grams!!!! That has
got to the one of the lightest rear hubs on the market today!

Sounds like sarcasm to me 😉 And BTW, light skewers (pairs) go under
100 gms. That still makes the hubs 170 - 180 gms (if this were true)
for $150. A tune 160 gm hub is $350. Campy must make it up in
    volume!

According to the Campy web site, those weights ARE without skewers.
But they don't list the skewer weights.

    From Campy's web site:

"The nominal weight refers to the lighter specification among the
available options. The weight of the hubs does not includes the quick-
    release.
The nominal weight does not take account of the sometimes considerable
quantities of grease used in the assembly of the products. "

Holy [censored], the grease isn't included either!!!

OK, Excel Sports list the 2006 Campy Record rear hub as being 316gs
WITH SKEWERS. IF we assume that the 2006 Campy Record rear hub weighs
250g WITHOUT skewer, then if the 2007 QR Skewer is unchanged, it
should weigh 66g in the rear.

Still, a 2007 Campy Record rear hub weighing in at 231g is still
incredibly light, and a fantastic bargain at the cost of about $150!!!!

That's a big part of the reason I just got the new '06 rear record,
that just arrived today. Also it's parts compatibility swapping with
my older Chorus/Centaur based wheels, and refusal to pay $30 for a
    single replacement cone.

So I'll be lugging around more than 2/3 extra oz, heaven forbid.
There may be some as yet untold cost to the gram shaving on the new
    design hub.

eek! I wish I hadn't seen this! Jeez what's next??

Campagnolo 2006 book shows 181 front 316 rear
Our scale says 178 front and 320 rear

2007 book lies with a deceitful 116 front and 231 rear.

No mention of ceramic [!] but the numbers now match every other
    advertised hub weight.

    Or should I say-

    O tempora, O mores!

    Here's a joke:

Q: How many R.B.T responses does it take to get a straight answer to a
    simple question?

A: In this case, 12. One to provide a flip and unfunny useless
response, two to complain things aren't like they used to be, two to
quote the marketing literature, three to say the marketing literature
is all lies, two to note that the answer (while untrustworthy) is
amazing, one to decry the times that caused such lies, and one to
answer the question (and even that answer I question).

    ;-)

I can believe 231g... that is ~30g lighter than the previous model.
What did they change to save 30g?

Figure 63g, 68g front and rear for the skewers unless they changed

2007 product book, at the bottom of page 213, Record stuff, a note
that says, 'the weight of the hubs includes the quick release', Yep,
they are light, is that a surprise to you?

    Ripped from the web page:

"The nominal weight refers to the lighter specification among the
available options. The weight of the hubs does NOT includes the quick-
    release."

Caps mine. The web page says the rear hub is 231 gms. Does the 2007
product book say the rear hub is 231 gms or 290-ish?

    D'ohBoy

Product book says 231..I'm guessing it's a typo about including QRs,
but I'll weigh one next time I see one, as if it's really important.
