I'm not too sure why you say that. I think Laureen is doing just fine. We
all have our own journey to follow and learn from.
But thanks for thinking I done good. 🙂

You are living and breathing un-assailable proof that a simple low-carb
lifestyle change is what is needed to attain weight loss and regain
    your health.

Stomach stapling should be made illegal. It is a very dangerous and
risky practice that is doing way more harm than good, and is
un-necessary. And un-necessary surgery is mutilation, in my opinion.
These surgeons are making a killing, literally and figuratively, and
laughing all the way to the bank, while their patients suffer.

    Monica,

You have been doing a truly amazing job (but you already
know that :-) Congratulations on the results.

    Take care.

    Hi JJ,
Sometimes I do know it, and sometimes it just doesn't seem
    like a big
deal. So thanks for mentioning it!
    Monica 🙂

    Monica,

I know so many people who can't--or at least haven't yet
decided to, or won't--do what you've done to allow myself to
think that it is no big deal.

I'm coming up on my 2 year anniversary from when I decided
to lose my weight; so long now that I've "almost" forgotten
what it felt like to be overweight. But I know how long I
fought the weight, and I know how hard I have worked to take
it off and keep it off. I can't bring myself to consider it
    no big deal.

People who have met me within the last year, after they
learn that I lost a large amount of weight, tell me they
can't imagine me being any other way than I am right now,
which is to say healthy looking and of reasonable weight; I
can't quite say skinny because I've never been skinny.
People accepting me as I am? Without qualification? How
can this be no big deal.

My life has changed and for me that is a big deal, though I
don't choose to make a big deal of it. I suspect that your
life has changed too, and for the better I trust. Just
because one chooses not to make a big deal out of something
doesn't make it any less so. Yes, Monica, in my opinion
what you have done is a big deal with results you can be
rightfully proud of and I don't believe that it would be a
false pride. Just remember though, that the diligence that
has taken you this far will, in my opinion, be as necessary
for the long haul as it has been to this point.

You have done a wonderful job so bear with me while I make a
    big deal out of it.

    Hi Rosie,
I'd be lying if I said I was eating well around now. I haven't been eating
enough veggies lately. 🙂 Since I've moved to Toronto from Vancouver in
May I haven't been able to get into a new exercise routine yet either. My
exercise is from my work right now, I'm a waitress, started working again in
late June and I'm burning calories galore. I'm eating lots too. My average
daily calories is about 1700-2000. My carbs are averaging 45 grams/day.
Example of my diet during a work day, my shift is 7:30am to 3pm

    Breakfast: 2 eggs (often boiled)
maybe if I have the groceries, I'll dice up a slice of ham and mush up the
eggs with some mayo, otherwise it's just the eggs.

Lunch: Advantage Peanut Butter Bar, I usually munch on it during my shift
or eat it on my break. Sometimes if I'm especially hungry that day, I'll
order a side of sausages to eat on my break along with my advantage bar.

Dinner: After my shift I'll order a bunless burger with a caesar salad. Or
a salad with grilled chicken or salmon. And again, if I'm especially hungry
that day I'll also order an appy to go with it like Calamari (fried breaded
squid). I pick off some of the breading but not all of it.

Then I usually get the munchies around 8pm and I'll have some pork rinds, a
piece of cheese or 2 squares of Lindt 85% with about 20 grams of sugar free
peanut butter spread on it. Again, if I'm especially hungry that night I'll
    eat all of the above.

On a non work day, I'll have a nice omelette with veggies and meat in it.
And for dinner it's some kind of meat with a salad. In between meals I'll
munch on the above snacks of pork rinds, cheese, Lindt and peanut butter.

I don't think my diet is all that great right now, I really do think I
should be eating more veggies. Problem is though that I have to throw out
most of my groceries during the week and I hate wasting food like that when
I think of all the hungry people in this world. So I'll only shop on my
days off and get what I need for that day. It's more expensive that way,
but it's better than throwing everything out all the time.

And not really anymore exercise than my work really, on my first day off I
usually just veg out, recuperating from my work week, and my second day off
I have more energy to do stuff like my shopping and laundry. So not a whole
lot of walking or anything else. And then the work week begins again.

When I wasn't working before Toronto, I'd walk for an hour a day and do some
    weights about 2 - 3 x per week.
    That's it.

    Hope this helps? 🙂

sure. stick with it. not losing for some time is quite normal. and post your
menus if you are stuck. go for support, either here or at one of the
numerous bulletin boards for low carbers. Drink your water, exercise, and
    stick with your chosen plan.

Useful advice is going to depend on your giving us more info. How much
do you need to lose? How much do you weigh now and how tall are you?
How old are you? Do you exercise? If so, what kind of exercise do you
do and how much? How long did it take to lose those first 17 pounds? How
long after that did you start trying other diets? Are you male or
female? Were you eating any highly processed "low-carb" products like
bars or candy? What was a typical daily menu, including portion sizes?

WOW you look great, keep up the good work! We are the studies for the
future, if we live the low carb lifestyle and live to be a healthy and
active 100 years old then I guess our great great grandchildren will
then have the proof they need. Again great job well done.

One question for you, and I hope this does not hurt your feelings. I
noticed in some of your pictures that your hair was very thin and now
your hair is thick an healthy. Did that have anything to do with
    living low carb?

    Hi Sly,
Don't worry you're not hurting my feelings.
My hair is very thin period. I have "female" pattern baldness. I started
    losing my hair at 20.
I wear a wig now, which is why in some of the pictures my hair looks thicker
    and healthier.
No diet will bring my hair back. I've been told my problem is genetic and
onset so early in my life because of my wacked out hormones.
    Hope this helps.

  19. THat's awesome! Congrats!

  20. I'd be curious to hear if your hair does improve with a low carb way of
life (and to be honest, I didn't notice it was thin at all).. Alot of
the latest research for male pattern baldness is that it's a
manifestation of insulin resistance... Also, in women, PCOS is
basically the female equivalent of MPB, and they also believe it occurs
in women who are insulin resistant -- the usual treatment is a low carb
diet (PCOS causes a hormonal imbalance that makes it hard to conceive
-- low carb generally resets the hormomes)..
