  1. I must be in a test marketing area for the Coca Cola co. Several weeks
ago, it was the Blue Label Diet Coke (splenda) and this morning when I
looked in the refrigerator at the convenience store on campus I saw -
    Coca-Cola Zero.

No carb, no calorie, the ingredients list looked similar to Diet Coke. I
was joking about it - saying how is this not oh, I dunno, Diet Coke? But,
I bought a bottle to try it out. It does, in fact taste much more like
regular Coke to me. Which is a point against it for me, as I think regular
Coke tastes too sweet. It also has a more noticable aftertaste in my
opinion (although that probably depends on which sweeteners work for you).

I didn't like it and it wouldn't cause me to switch, but if you really
like the taste of regular Coke, but don't need the sugar, you might want
    to try it out.

I was wondering what the marketing rationale was - are they going for
people who don't think of themselves as "diet" drinkers but could use
fewer calories/carbs or just coke drinkers who don't like the taste of DC?

I personally prefer it to DC and I definitely don't want calories from a
    drink.

  3. Looks like Splenda has swung some deals with Coca-Cola and Pepsico.

More options for low-carbers I guess.

The Coke Zero isn't sweetened w/ Splenda. It uses apartame and acesulfame.

  7. I like it. I don't care for diet coke, I like the taste of regular coke
better. I don't like pepsi. C2 was good to me, but this is a better option
since it has no calories. I am no longer doing low carb, for reasons, but it
helps to be able to limit the sugar somewhere. I still use splenda liquid in
    my tea and coffee.

  8. I just tried Coke Zero too. To me it tastes more like regular Coke,
than std Diet Coke, but not as sweet or flavorful as regular Coke. I
like Diet Coke with Splenda the best of the Coke products. It's
amazing how many of these products Coke is making. Looks like they are
just throwing everything on the shelf and seeing what sticks.
Personally, for a cola, I like Diet Rite the best. To me, that tastes
    more like real Coke.

I may have to give it a try. Except I drink Diet Rite now as I don't
    want the caffeine either.

I agree,I prefer Diet Rite of all the colas I have tried. Plus, it is
caffeine free. I do like some of the "Waist Watchers" (Adirondack) diet
sodas, orange an ginger ale in particular, which use Splenda. I tried
    their cola, ewwww.

I like the Waist Watchers a lot too, it was a great find. The local
supermarket has it for like 33c a can, which is great. I like the
    black raspberry the best.

The Coke Zero has a white label, I found some in the cooler where they keep
the 20 oz bottles. DH has pronounced it better than Coke/Splenda, the
regular diet coke is nasty and he couldn't stand to drink it at all.

My speculation - They are trying the Campbells Soup
strategy. Have so many varieties that they dominate
the shelf space. It pushes small competitors out of
the area. With/without caffeine, with lemon or lime
or vanilla or cherry, with sugar or aspartame or
    splenda/ace-k. 2x4x3=24 possible combinations. Plus
cans, half liter, 20 oz 24 oz, liter, 2 liter, 3 liter.

  16. I had one yesterday and thought it was fabulous. If you dont like real
Coke, in the first place, I guess you wouldnt like Zero, either, but for
real Coke fans, Zero is by far the closest in taste to the Real Thing.

Indeed it is, now they just need to use splenda rather than aspertame.

Just saw an ad on TV for diet 7-Up with Splenda. Going to try it.
