Well, don't get too excited. The first time I saw one, I knew
immediately that Ford had simply recycled the lines of the '70 Boss by
downsizing them and rounding them out. Nice looking but not
revolutionary.

Just bought one - GT (red fire). All I can say is WOW!! I had a '90 5.0
many years ago and this one is night and day better. The traction control
is really nice and I just drove through some ugly snowy weather last night
and it's much better - no comparison - than my 5.0. You can turn it off if
you want to lay a bit of rubber.

The suspension is much better than earlier models too. It really rips
around corners well (for a muscle car at least). The sound is amazing. If
you like the muscle car sound, this thing has an amazing growl when you push
it a bit. If you like Mustangs, you'll love this thing - it's a beast. One
feature really made me laugh. It has a "Speed Volume" feature on the stereo
that when enabled gets louder the faster you go - a lot louder. Throw on
your favourite tune and it's impossible not to drive at light speed. Made
me laugh...

I'm taking it to the track next week - then I'll have some real fun.

everything on it. It was in the shop 13 times in 2 1/2 years. Ford can
suck the dingleberries off my ass. I'll never buy another.

My impression of Ford is they engineer something just enough to make it
saleable. Forget refinement engineering. I had stuff break like the cup
holders, the plastic console between the seats, the emergency break rubber
bumper, the driver's seat bracket, etc, etc, etc. I would take it in and
the service guy would say "yeah...everybody has the cupholder break", so it
wasn't just me. The jap rigs don't have issues like that. Which is why I
now drive a Toyota.

That was just minor stuff. They also replaced the rearend twice in 20k.
There was a major problem with the front end that took them six tries to
fix. Turns out the front end joints were installed backward at the factory.
Some union worker put them in on a Monday after his eight week paid vacation
maybe? Who knows...who cares.

Bottom line...the new Mustang may look cool, but you can bet it sucks on the
inside.

stands...that they should refine their product before release, rather than
treating the first year of a new model as the beta version, and let us deal

FWIW, I've been a Ford guy most my life, and my Dad is a Ford guy. My rig
before the '99 was a '88 full size Bronco that I also bought new and had for
10 years. It fell apart, and the motor was going out when I sold it at 98k.
I only got $2,500 for it because it wouldn't keep oil pressure. It had a
351 V8.

The 97 Toyota 4-Runner I now have, I bought with 98k on it about six months
ago. I've now got 106k, and it runs like new. Everybody says I should get
160k out of it before anything serious starts to go. I'm as patriotic as
anybody, but if the US won't build a rig to compete, they don't get my
business.

I've also got an 89 Bronco with 135,000 on it and it still runs but is

I have a '93 Mustang. The engine has over 200k miles on it, and still
runs good, just uses a bit of oil now. My primary complaint is just
the cosmetic stuff, interior is built a little cheap, etc. Other than
that, it's been a pretty decent car with nothing major mechanically
going wrong.

I've had 2 Toyota trucks and a 4Runner. All ran great for 150K+ but all
rusted to death. As for buying American - my most recent choice was between
a Toyota Tundra built in Indiana and a Chevy Silverado built in Canada. The
local Toyota dealer is an ass, so I bought the Chevy.
