    well a week or two ago i asked about tires to replace the spcialized mondo (bottom of the barrel steel bead) tires that came with my Specialized Allez triple. lots of people suggested continental gatorskins, but reading up on this forum, and others, as well as roadbikereveiw, i decided Michelin Krylion Carbon 700x23c were what i needed. I ordered them off ebay (even though i dislike ebay cant beat the deals) for 54.98 (www.seasonaloutfitters.com) shipped for two tires! two days later they arrived in the mail (today) wow that was fast!

    Mounted them, wow what a pain to mount folding bead compared to steel bead. but i knew that, my mtb tires were the same pain in the neck. got them on just fine however, centered the colored logo with valve stem (because its all about style) inflated them, and the seem to hold air! yay i didnt screw up yet!

    Planning on a ride later on tonight, its about 90 degrees out and i dont feel like dying. the old specialized tires look like they should be a 25c compared to these, but i think that is due to specializeds dual radius tread. Never had problems with the specialized, but I just wanted better tires...

    Ill report back on how i like them. i have rear pumped to 115psi and front somewhere around 110 psi. same as i was running on the specialized tires, and 116 (8 bar) is the max for the michelins. I hope i made a good choice, i dont ride in the rain with the road bike, and if i get cought in a shower ill slow down to be safe. im 225 lbs so i hope these lil tires hold me up 🙂 I was thinking about going to 25c, but i have this weird need for speed.... 😄

    You should get out more.

    The Krylions seem to be nice tires. Next spring spring for some Pro 2 Races with more colors.

    Bet you'll like the Krylion's. Should be a faster than your OEM tires, with better ride and grip. They are supposed to wear better than ProRace, but have slightly more rolling resistance than the race tires.

    I've read that a 25 or 28 mm tire will be faster than a 23 for riders at your weight. The skinny tires have a slight aero advantage, but that is more than offset by the higher rolling resistance due to the deflection of the sidewalls.

    Thanks dhk2. I think that you have answered a question that I have had for several months. I weigh in at about 200 lbs and earlier in the summer I got a new wheelset with tires. The new tires were 25's and replaced 23's. I noticed an immediate 5 MPH increase in speed which I thought was purely phsycological, putting forth more effort to justify what I paid for the wheelset. If what you read is true, then the increase was at least partially physical:p .

    yea i figured 25c would be better, but i guess i just wanted 23c? eventually ill loose some weight, im investing in a winter bike tomorrow, an older schwinn woodlands mtb that im gonna add fenders and bmx pedals for winter riding 🙂 hopefully i have good luck with the tires, they sure look nice (got red to match my Allez). besides, 25c tires weigh more, about 60gr each hahahhaa

    heck anything should be faster than those oem tires. they seemed nice at first, but that was because i went from a mountain bike with slicks to a road bike, anything would seem fast!

    didnt get a chance to go out for a ride, it was 90 degrees right up untill it was too dark for me to be out on the streets 🙁 i dont trust the cars around here. Ill be able to get out monday or tues if its nice 🙂 ill report back for sure

    I've ridden on Michelin Carbons(basically the same) for 3 years and love them. The yellow strip matches my race bike too. I've regularly gotten(I'm about 70kgs) 6000kms out of the front and 5500 out of a rear tyre with few punctures.
    I now have different tyres on my two training bike(Michelin Megiums on geared bike a cheap Hutchinsons on my singlespeed - cost!:o ) but I've still got 20mm carbons on my race bike.
    You'll really like them and keep them for a long time. 🙂
