New Litespeed creeking headset

Are you sure it's not the stem and bar that's creaking? I
had a Ti stem with a 3ttt Prima bars that creaked out of the
saddle. Greased the bar and the creak was gonzo.

I had this problem from quite a few spots.
a.) the front wheel quick release had to be super tight or
it would creak, american classic micro front hub/american
classic quick release.
b.) if I moved the stem and the position of the spacers
relative to the stem, creaking would come and go away.
c.) tiny crack in handlebars, doubt this is your problem
d.) front brake/front brake cable rubbing against shifter

I've read reports of this problem described in owners forums

I called them. They would prefer that I take it to a local
dealer and have them look at it or even have it returned to
the factory to be looked at.

I don't want to do this. I don't want to be without the bike
and it would be nice to fix it myself if possible. Just
trying to gather information on the problem. I am pretty
convinced that it is coming from the inserts. I'll try a few
more things to make sure.

I don't want to do this. I don't want to be without the
bike and it would be nice to fix it myself if possible.
Just trying to gather information on the problem. I am

Ride your other bikes. If you don't have one, get one. The
turnaround time varies depending upon how busy they are and
if they dispute your warranty claim. I had a cracked frame
repaired in two weeks and a different broken frame
replacement took over six weeks, and they didn't give me a
hassle in either case, but it took a lot longer for the
replacement.

I know two people who purchased a Sienna last year and
both complained about the creaking headset. Their LBS
removed the cups, replaced the cups, lubed the cups-more
than once on each bike. The bikes still creaked. Checked
the stem bolts. Checked the handlebar. Checked the
waterbottle bolts. Checked the seatpost & saddle bolts.
Both still creaked. Sent the bikes to Litespeed. Got the
bikes back. Still creaked. Litespeed said something to the
effect that their mech couldn't hear any creaks or get the
bikes to creak. Also suggested that perhaps the LBS didn't
know how to properly work on Litespeed bikes. One person
took their bike to a couple of other bike shops and those
bike shops had no luck getting rid of the craking noise.
So both people no longer own a Litespeed, got rid of them
as soon as they could. This is, of course, not the case
with every Litespeed. I have one and have had no problems
with it. Course mine does not have an integrated headset.
Sometimes Litespeed does not do a very good job with their
customer service.

Hey did a great job with me when my chainstay broke at the
dropout weld at the end of the first week of an 8 week
riding trip in France (became the perminent sag wagon
driver). Kept it for seven weeks after I got home saying
that the delay was in repainting...promised a whole new
paint job. Returned it with no paint and no explaination why
it took 7 weeks. Were astonished when I questioned if they
had examined any of the other welds..."no why should we?"
Love the Classic though.
