  1. Recently I have been getting more serious about the Chicago Marathon,
so my training is a litle more involved. Last year (my first marathon)
, I used roughly the same schedule (run long when its not unbearable
out, and get all the action I can in during the week on shorter runs) ,
and it worked out ok for me.

Possible realted issues, my new Kayano's. Ive used ASic Kayanos for 5
years, and never had a problem with any of them.

Anyways, when running slower for distance, I obviously shorten my
stride, and it feels like im just landing flat on my heel, which causes
slight discomfort in my ankle, and only worsens.

Should I be icing my ankle (only one side) , or perhaps using Icy Hot,
    or something along those lines.

Im just really worried something is wrong. 🙁

    Any advice ?

Just stop running that way. Don't you have ANY body control?

What part of your ankle? Bone, tendon, front, side, back?

  4. Medical advice from joggers? Where do you go when you have car
    troubles.........a florist?

  5. Stop running 27.2 mile marathons and concentrate on 26.2 mile ones. :-)

The 27.2 mile debacle was at the Lakeshore Marathon not the Chicago
    Marathon. Huge difference.

Now that you mention this, I wonder how many potential Chicago Marathon
runners are not going because of this confusion. It can't be good for
    business.

  7. Thanks for the correction. I thought it was the Chicago marathon and so
did a runner I was speaking with after a race this weekend.

Hopefully, there will be little (if any) effect on the Chicago marathon.
Most people would assume that (if anything), the distance will at
least be right next time. In fact what brought up the subject (between
me and the person I was speaking with) was my indicating how I thought I
had run my first half-marathon last fall but it ended up to be 0.4 miles
short. I REALLY expect it to the correct distance this year. Of
course, that doesn't help those of us who ran it last year.
