Had a new experience today. A lad in a red mobile greenhouse decided to impress his mates by pulling onto my side of the road on a narrow country lane while driving at an excessive speed for the road -- leaving me about a metre of space.
I didn't quite catch the comments that were being shouted from every window -- but I take it they were complimentary and encouraging.

car nazis . i lived in holland for a year and cycled everywhere. especially to the pubs and coffee shops. i have not been back on a bike since circumstances forced me to live back in this [censored] of a country. it is because of such pro-war anti-bike morons like that i am wary of getting back in the saddle.

Yes, encouraging you to produce a rotten egg and throw it in.
so that they can get out and give you a kicking which is what they would very much like. take their license number and phone up the local constabulary to report dangerous driving.
I only got the only-to-be-expected calls of "You're a long way from Athens" from a dopey woman in a volvo as the persperation dripped off my nose at the top of a hill.
Does she not know the road race was yesterday??!! ;0D
I think long way in terms of fitness/speed as well as distance...

It must be the stupid season. I'm rolling gently (*ahem*25mph*ahem*) down the road (lochee road) and a car pulls up in a side road (gardner street). I'm watching him to make sure he has seen me when there is a flash of silver and some dork decides to turn right in front of me. I must have missed him by a fraction of a second.
That was a bit of a shock.. I hadn't even noticed him because I was concentrating on the chap in the side road.

You missed your chance for a Witty Riposte: "Yes, Madam, I left after the road race yesterday and have only just arrived home."
