1. Hello everyone! New here and somewhat new to cycling. I biked in the past, but more for recreation then anything else. This year I seemed to get bit by the biking bug and have completed various tours...most recently a metric century in June and have another one next week. At the end of September hoping to complete a full out century and trying to get some training and advice. Don't know a lot about cycling, so appreciate any help or advice anyone can offer. Thanks in advance!

  2. Hello Meg and welcome to the forum. Specific questions are a lot easier to answer, and you already might know some of the things that I am going to mention.

Wear your helmet and wear it correctly. It amazes me how many people I see with their helmet straps unbuckled or loose and the helmet pushed way up on the back of their head.

Use a Hydration Pack or Water Bottles...You probably already do this if you completed a Metric.

Eat while riding.... you probably did this on your Metric also.

Make sure that your bike fits....Ditto if you are riding that much.

Like I said, specific questions are easier to answer. You can learn a lot about cycling by reading through the forum in the current and past posts, but then that takes away from time in the saddle.

  3. Welcome aboard, Meg!

  4. Hi, Meg, welcome to Cycling Forums.

I'm the unpleasant, creepy guy (kidding!)

My best local cycling friends are the folks at Highgear Cycling.
