  1. I have just bought I bottle of gourmet cooking oil and it is really
good. The oil is called "Treasure Green Camellia Tea Oil". I just
purchased it at Whole Foods in NYC. I saw a demo there. The lady was
making a toss green salad and used camellia oil instead of the standard
olive oil. In the same demo, she was using the same oil to deep fry
french fries to demonstrate the high smoking point, 220 degree Celsius
or 428 degree Fahrenheit. I guess this smoking temperature is close to
canola oil. Furthermore, she said camellia tea oil is low in saturated
fats, high in beneficial monounsaturated fats, and has a balanced
amount of polyunsaturated fats, just like olive oil. And all this is
100% natural and pure not blended.

As a culinary student, I found this to be very impressive.

If anyone else have tried it, I would like some feedback since this is
a new oil that I am expermenting new recipes with. Since it is availabe
at Whole Foods, I guess it is available nation wide. If anyone have
tried it before, maybe we can exchange thoughts, cooking tips, and
    recipes.

    Cheer,

    Greg

  2. I believe Tea Oil is also a home remedy for toe-nail fungus.

Expensive compared to a cooking oil at abut $9 an ounce. Also has a
medicinal turpentine like odor to it. Nothing you'd want to cook with.

Ah.. that is also good for lice! :-) However, I doubt it is the same as
    camelia oil.

Exucuse me Greg if I cross posted your question to IHC (it hobby cucina,
    Italia).
But the argoment was so interesting for me.
A member of IHC (ziab is the nick) said that this type of oil come from the
seeds of the plant "Camelia sinensis" (a chinese plants).
"If you want" said ziab "to know more about this plant, you can search a
    group specialized in tea discussions".
I don't know if there is.
BTW thank you for having light us on the existence of Camelia Oil
    Cheers

Indeed. Not to mention it is orally toxic in those amounts.

BTW - it's almost the most potent 'anti' oil - anti fungal, viral, ceptic,
the works. Very useful stuff to have around, as is manuka oil for the same
    reasons.

  14. Thank-you. Grazie. Finally someone gets it right.

I just returned from a summer holiday in Japan. The Japanese have been
consuming it for over 20+ years. For the record, "Camellia Tea Oil" is
not the same as "Tea Tree Oil". Tea tree oil is used as a industrial
cleaner whereas Camellia Tea Oil is a high antioxidant gourmet
cooking oil with a high concentration of many of the essential fatty
acids found in olive oil and canola oil. For all those who think it
taste like "medicinal turpentine", they oviously have not tried the oil
before. I just made some french fries with the oil for my kids over the
Canadian long weekend, they tasted great. Actually, it is odourless and
    tasteless.

While in Japan, I have discovered that the cosmetic industry have been
using the non extra virgin camelia oil in countless high-end cosmetic
products. They said this also true in North America. However, the
gourmet cooking version is extra virgin.

That is enough for me, I just wanted to clear up the confusion.

    Cheers..
