Quoted message said:Hi all,
This is nothing for many of you, but for me, it's quite a feat. I did
four miles last night! That's amazing to me. I don't think I've run
that far non-stop since I was in elementary school! (I actually ran
quite a bit when I was a pre-teen.)
Congrats. Don't beat yourself up though. I only did one long run per
week.
Dave
Hi Dave,
Oh, I won't! I'm quite tickled that I did it *and* that it wasn't that hard
either. I really didn't feel "winded" until around the 3 mile or so
mark...But pushed on a bit. I still don't want to overdue the shins since
they are back to being mostly pain free. I'm feeling good today (day after)
so I take that as a good sign.
I'm trying to figure out how to do this...I'd like to add some distance/time
(length not speed really) to my runs. I've seen that adding about a mile
per week is a good way to go. I originally aimed for 10 mpw and was able to
do that in about 4 days a week. But it was too much too soon. I backed off
and now feel that I can be back at that level. But, that does included just
a tad of walking at the beginning and end. So, I'm going to aim for 10 mpw
*running* (which I'll get this week if no problems) and then slowly add a
mile every week or two. I'm being *very* conservative. I'm doing this for
fun. I'm also a T1 diabetic and need to learn what affect this running has
on my bg's. So far so good. I do get a rise in bg after a run but not
terrible.
OK...sorry, I rambled on...Thanks for the encouragement...What type of
schedule do you do? If that's not being to forward to ask. You said you do
one "long" run a week...Thx again! Take care, JJ
