  1. Pah. No Schmidt hubs any more and no intention to stock them either,
from the e-mail I've just received. I was hoping to get 10% off seeing
as everyone else sells them at full price :-(

Yes IMO the CTC shop has gone down the pan. What is the point in having
a shop for the club if it does not cater for the Club members?

Luckily the old shop still stock the things we need.

Fairly understandable for them to not stock stuff that they won't be able
to shift - no point in our membership subsidising the shop I s'pose.

otoh that one might have been from kinetics) from there...

    cheers,

The shop people running the shop buy the right to use the CTC brand.

    (which is sad IMO

The CTC should be made aware that the new shop is not coming up to members'
expectations. Now it is Evans, I'm not overly impressed.

What have been your problems with it?

I'm thinking of making an order.

I suppose it depends on what you see the purpose of the CTC shop.

whilst it used to have much smaller range it did stock some bits useful
to touring (and other cyclists) that could be bit harder to find. The
current outsourced version (wasn't it done by another shop before? -
and previously, in house?)) has much larger range, though nothing
really seemed to differentiate it from any other mail order operation
(other than the obvious CTC connection) I would guess that it makes more
money for the CTC, but less of service really, and that is a reasonable
tack for the CTC to take I guess. Though I can see why some would
    disagree.

Is there a link to the old shop? Presumably too the CTC discount no
    longer applies?

    To buy goods?

I am interested as to what poor service has led wafflycat to express her displeasure.

    No answer as yet though.

    That is the problem.

I just read the CTC weekly message which included a suggestion to view
the range of Brook saddles available at the CTC shop.

    So I did.

All I could find was a B17 in standard and narrow widths. It didn't
seem much of a range !

Thanks for the link, Zog. As it happens their shop is in Croydon, which
is not a great distance from Sutton, and I popped in there yesterday to
buy a SON hub over the counter. Interestingly when I asked about this
they flatly denied that they ever offered a discount to CTC members
even when they did run the CTC shop.

Whatever; they still provide a good service at a good price. I tend to check
on the website then ordedr over the phone where they have always been goo at
answering queries (usually about sizing). As far as i can remember all stuff
    ordered has arrived next day.
