keeps the donuts out of the house and you don't short sheet his bed everytime
he's not looking?Seriously, talking it over with him is the only reasonable action short
of moving. I know what it's like. It was impossible to quit smoking when
I was living at home because my dad smoked with a religous fervor. Other
than that, I think you'd just have to white-knuckle it.
I've got to disagree (well actually I don't have to, but I'm going to).
When I started low-carbing I was living in a group house. My housemates
were not dieting and in fact they have all sorts of foods that I really
love in the house all the time. Sometimes it was tempting. Where I work,
we have cookie day on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The cookies are put out in
the front office, which is right outside mine. I was used to picking up a
cookie or two everytime I walked by. But, I retrained myself. Now, I'll
put the cookies out, but I don't even think of having them.
Ultimately, it has to come down to setting your own rules. The world is
not going to stop having temptations just because you can't have things.
Sometimes it's not easy, but we all need to make it very clear in our
minds that there are foods we eat and foods we don't. I think drawing a
bright line makes it easy. It's when you decide you can have a little of
this or a serving of that that you're on a very slippery slope.
