New chain

well, how old was the chain, and how oftern has it been
replaced. What happens is that if the chain is not replaced
at the very first sign of wear, the cassettes and cogs will
get worn in to fit the old worn chain., Then when you
replace the chain with a new one, it doesn't run smoothly on
your old worn casette. You should putting on a new chain
every 500 miles or so.

It's quite a new bike (maybe a month old). It's probably not
done no more than a 100 miles yet. When I looked at the
chain it looked a cheap one.

maybe adjust your derailleur? So much for the worn
chain idea!

I see that a lot, but i just replaced my stock sram PC59 and
i didnt have more than 200 on it. I cleaned and lubed it
maybe every month or two. Maybe its just because it was a
lower quality chain. O, and my replacement was a PC 69.

Who agrees that 500 mi is reasonable chain life?
