Hey guys, I'm on a roll in adding posts 2day, lol. Well I'm getting a new bike in two weeks and I was just wondering what ur thoughts were on it. I only had AU$500 so it was a very limited selection. I found the GIANT Rincon on special at my local bike store and got them to hold it for me. Me mate said it is a good buy for the price. Wadda u'z think? Heres a link to the GIANT webpage of it.

Nice bike...If you get it you will have to let me know what you think of the RST forks. I almost bought a set but I could not get anyone to give me any feedback on RST Forks.

The Rincon would be a good choice for the money when it comes to recreational and basic XC riding. Giant's bikes are always good value, but there's a lot of similarity with many brands when it comes to this price point.
As for the RST forks, I wouldn't expect miracles from them.. I don't think they are all that maintainable, so when they [censored] out it's a perfect excuse to upgrade.
My first 'real' MTB had RST Capa something-or-other forks, and they felt a bit spongey. They did make life easier, yeah, but they didn't have the precision that's noticeable in higher quality forks. (Then again those higher end forks would cost as much as the whole bike)

I bought it a week ago and the RST forks are VERY spongey! It's great off-road, but on the pavement they aren't the best thing to have. Another problem I've had is the wheels, although they look kool with the black spokes and rims, they have both buckled already after some light off-road use. Everything else is fine though.

Get someone at the bike store to re-tension and stress-relieve the spokes.. it'll make a big difference to their durability.
Most bikes come with machine-built wheels from the factory which are "good enough" but fall out of true easily.

Everything else is fine though.Thats gotta be unlucky BLDR, I ride the same bike, have done for 9-10 months now with off-road tours and daily commutes without any troubles. I was worried about wheel durability but stopped worrying about it after the off road tour. Right about the RSTs. They are pretty ordinary but you only get what you pay for.

Hi, i just bought an HM mountain bike. have any of you heard of that brand af bike and what do you think? I am new to bike riding and I am trying to take in as much as I can. i used to ride skateboards until I injured my knee. any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanx Brian
