Hello, I had been training since December for a May 1 marathon. Training was going awesome. I worked up to about 40 miles per week and was up to 20 miles for the weekly long run. Then in late March ,17 miles into a 22 mile run I had to stop because of some knee pain. IT Band....or something related. Iced, Rested, Went to physical therapy, tried a couple times to start back but it was too soon. Ended up with a cortisone shot a few days back. I've been doing a lot of swimming because that's the only thing that doesn't seem to aggravate it. Yesterday I finally ran 5 miles pain free for the first time since the injury.
Here's my question.... It's now two weeks until the marathon. I've pretty much given up on the full and have reluctantly decided to try just the half. I've now lost 4 weeks of training except for a few short runs, some elliptical, and lots of swimming. If I were doing the full I'd be starting my taper now. Instead, I'm ramping up from the injury.
I have no doubt that I can finish the half but would like to perform my best. How should I approach the next two weeks before the race?
