  1. OK, too young to complain about this stuff.... but here goes.

Raced BMX from age 13 to roughly 16 (cars, damn cars) at about 150-180lbs. i was happy with that weight, wasn't too rough on the bike.

now.......21 years old.... weighing in at 225lbs, a full time desk-jockey. WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO DO? I don't consider myself overly fat, but definately not in my old BMX condition.

OK, so my first big question is, what do you guys suggest as a second step to getting back into riding shape again? and maybe shedding a few pounds so i'm not bending rims......? bear in mind this is my first time in life having to get "back" in shape! when i was 13... well, i was 13!!! so from there is was steady progress, but now i've got to fix the regress first!

first step is get the bike out of the garage, and get it tuned. planning on that tonight. step 1.5, just finished my last pop 🙂

    TIA
    Dustin

BTW: Hello, my name is Dustin.

I was in the same boat as you, roughly the same weight. I've been on the MTB for a couple of years, but I havent ridden seriously in ten. Now I just went out (6 months ago) and bought a road bike, started racking up the miles. I've lost 30 pounds, looking to lose thirty more, and get serious about racing.

  3. hmmm. MTB might be a better way for me to go then BMX. I visited my old track the other day.... looked fun as hell, but 225lbs is just to much to throw down on a BMX bike...... and i thought i bent a lot of rims when i was younger!

  6. It isnt all bad being "heavy" compared to other riders. My dad is 250 (hes not fat... just a big guy). He kicks my ass on the road and I weigh in at 150 (that and I'm only 15).

So don't think being heavy will stop you from being in shape if you can't lose those pounds.
