Hi Drop34, welcome to the group!
Did you start cutting carbs before you officially started to low-carb?
actually i did my 1st week of induction w/a broken scale that said i was
13lbs lighter than i am. that sucked! so i continued onto week 2 and called
it week 1. oh well - maybe i lost and didn't know but i have ZERO change in
measurements done before real week 1. (maybe the extra weight is just fat in
my head - duh!!)
If so,
Quoted message said:that may explain the loss of only 1 lb. The dramatic initial loss during
induction is mostly water loss as the glycogen stores in the liver are
depleted,
Quoted message said:so it's possible you had already begun the process.
Quoted message said:I only (only - hahaha) have 50lbs to lose so I figure if I am a slow
loser
Quoted message said:Quoted message said:but can continue to lose 1lb a week then it will be gone in about a
year.
Quoted message said:Quoted message said:
*sigh*
Yeah, it's discouraging, but it gets better after a while. It's all a
matter of
Quoted message said:expectations and perception. I've lost 55 lbs in 13 months (see my sig
for
Quoted message said:photos). When I started, I was hoping to lose 80 lbs by January -- HA!
But you
Quoted message said:know, I just stayed the course, and it's made a HUGE difference, not just
in
Quoted message said:weight, but in health. In fact, it's the HEALTH improvement that keeps me
on
Quoted message said:track. Some of us just lose more slowly than others. Also, generally
speaking,
Quoted message said:the more a person has to lose, the more impressive the initial loss is.
50 lbs
Quoted message said:seems like a lot to lose, but the people who need to lose 100+ lbs are the
ones
Quoted message said:who tend to have the big initial losses, so don't sweat it just yet.
There is also the possibility that you may not be doing induction
correctly.
Quoted message said:Give us a sample menu and we might be able to spot something that could
cause you
Quoted message said:to stall. Off the top of my head, common stallers can be aspartame and
some
Quoted message said:sugar alcohols (lactitol, maltitol, etc.) that are commonly found in
manufactured
Quoted message said:low-carb products. Drinking LOTS of water helps to shed LOTS of water.
Be sure
Quoted message said:you are getting enough fiber. Keep track of what you are eating.
Fitday.com is
Quoted message said:a good (FREE & spam-free) way to do this. I use an Excel spreadsheet, but
started off with Fitday and still use it sometimes to get nutritional
information.
i have been drinking strictly water and seltzer only! so nothing with
aspertame ( i used to be a caff free diet pepsi junkie!)
I may no t be getting enough fiber - but i am eating lots of salads.
Quoted message said:Also, if you are a woman, your monthly cycle can (and usually WILL) affect
your
Quoted message said:weight temporarily -- in my case, the extra PMS weight doesn't drop back
down
Quoted message said:until AFTER my period, which is SOOOO annoying; however, in looking back,
it's
Quoted message said:actually sort of trained me to be patient and stay the course the REST of
the
Quoted message said:time. The weight WILL come off if I stay the course, but the timetable
for it
Quoted message said:is simply not under MY control no matter HOW much I wish it WERE. I often
notice
Quoted message said:that my body is smaller in places, even when no weight loss registers on
the
Quoted message said:scale. Invaribly, I notice changes several days, if not a WEEK before it
shows
Quoted message said:up on the scale. That's MY pattern. Stick with it for a while and you
will
Quoted message said:eventually notice what YOUR pattern is.
boo that!
You CAN do it!
thanks - and your success is an inspiration.
