Need shoes for clips/straps

I've been using the same pair of Carnac Carlit touring shoes for some
time now. They are comfortable, stiff soled leather shoes that
probably will take nail on cleats if you really need the cleats.
The Carnacs are available from the UK for about $130, not including
shipping. Google "Carnac Carlit" to find them.

Otherwise you might have to haunt eBay for some vintage Dettos or such
as that.

Look 3-bolt cleat pattern, adapts to slotted cleats for clips/straps.
So your shoe choice would be wide open. I purchased from Roger at WCC
several years ago, my only connection is "satisfied customer". Very
helpful, professional.

OK, adding: I've got foot problems that using clips/straps sure didn't
help. The operation/recovery for removing a bone spur? *no* fun, and
not 100% effective, either. Unsolicited advise is: find a mail order
place-- since the locals choose to be buttholes, no guilt about trying
on there and buying elsewhere-- that offers a shoe/pedal combo; some
deals I've seen were very cost-effective (and how old are your pedals,
BTW?). Shimano SPD has models you can walk in, with recessed cleats.
I've only used those for Spin class, not out on the road, but that
might be a good way to go, at a reasonable price. --TP

Good solution to his problem. Mine too. Thanks for the link.

Those Sidi titaniums from back in the early '70s were nice fitting,
but tended to break down if walked on too much. I switched to
Looks....still with the cleats though. Those old Campy pedals just
didn't wear out.

I still prefer the Carnac Carlits these days for touring. They walk
and wear well.
