Need recommendation for hitch rack.....

I use the Yakima version that hangs bikes by the top tube. If your frame
has no top tubes that will sit on the "saddle", you need to buy one of the
bars that substitute as one. (Note that the current models shown on the
Yakima site seem to have this issue licked, although they are almost twice
the cost of my original rack.)

Since we carry two bikes, I also got the set of straps that cinch down the
wheels to prevent swinging/contact between bikes. Works like a charm.

My rack has a pin to allow the rack to pivot down for access to the rear of
the vehicle. Works OK. Wonder if a "swing out" model might have been more
convenient?

Look at various designs and think in terms of backing into a wall or somebody
kissing your bumper in a parking situation. - and decide what you can live with.

I've avoided the tray type racks for that reason - in spite of their apparently
greater convenience.

On mine, the bikes hang by their wheels. There's a small PITA factor in
getting the bikes on there, but I like it because the bikes will rotate instead
of the rack folding if somebody nudges it.

OTOH, the stabilizing system (the part that keeps the bikes from swinging
wildly during accelleration/braking) that came with the rack was junk. I wound
up cutting a broking windsurfer boom in half and using that as the stabilizer.

I guess I should take a pic and post it somethere... maybe tonite or tomorrow...
