My 51cm Dura Ace Ksyrium SL Soloist weighs 17.4 lbs and cost me $3271 total (but I got the F & F on ebay for $968). My 52cm Kestrel Talon Ultegra Campy Eurus Speedplay Zero Ti bike cost me $3717 and it weighs 19.03 lbs.
I hit a top speed of 32.9 mph on the Soloist and 31.1 mph on the Talon (both flats no wind).
Both of my bikes are a top notch selections because they're both aerodynamic. But I admit the ride and geometry of my Talon gives me a much more comfortable ride than the Soloist. See the pics of both my bikes.

Nice bikes! I'm in the works of getting a 05 Cervelo Soloist too. BTW, how tall are you? Can't help but notice the very low saddle height you have on both of your bikes. Is the frame too large for you???!?!

I can't tell if you mean year 2000 components or Trek model 2000 bike. If your components are year 2000 and are in decent shape, I would consider getting a new frame only and switching the components over-then upgrade as things wear out. However, if you can afford the new bike, keeping the old one intact as a bad weather/winter bike is nice. If the performance/value ratio is important to you, Dura-Ace does not give much (if any) incremental increase in performance for the high added cost.
1-loud rattles from internal shift cables inside the frame 2-rattles from seatpost (non carbon) 3-rattles from bike brake/shifting handbar 4-rattles from chain (set up with too many links)
I'm not the only one who found this out after purchasing this pos. found many others in the same boat.

Reviews there seem to be positive.
FWIW, internal cables can rattle, depending on the road surface, but that is true for damned near every bike w/ internal cable routing. Other rattles, well, I'd say those are more than likely setup issues and the responsibility of the LBS that put the bike together.

Obviously you are here to educate rather than alienate. I do wonder, though, why you were such a consumer to not know what you were buying before you found all those rattles you hate.

Does this just mean that the parts assembly was poor for that particular one? My LBS says that they have to basically reassemble and retune nearly all of the bike (wheels, bb, headset, etc etc) to get it in good working order, as the factory assembly turns out to be pretty bad.

I'm 5' 3.5" tall at 142 lbs 12% body fat. I'm too big for size 48 for the Soloist and Talon and I just fit the 51cm & 52cm sizes with a 90 mm stem, 170mm cranks, & 42 cm bars. The Talon fits me fine but my Cervelo needs a 60mm stem.
I've ridden my Cervelo exactly 1606.6 miles since I got it and I have noticed any rattles while riding it. So what if it does rattle, it the best aerodynamic aluminum bike out there. I certainly would rather have the carbon Soloist but I think it costs too much.

I only said that there can be "rattles" w/ internal cable routing, not that there has to be. It's not an uncommon observation, nor is it a sign that anything is wrong.

My bike is the Trek model 2000 bikeTrek model. Thanks for all the good information. I am still investigating all options. I am not to familiar with Felts or Talon, I guess down here in the south they are not that popular. I have seen lots of Cervelo, Trek, Quintanaroo and Kestral at events here and races on TV.

Felt bikes are sold all over Texas. Believe me Pedals, even the 250lb fat guy on the Cervelo who brags about his 22 gram carbon bottle cage would think you were pretty smart and maybe a little exotic riding a Felt.😉 Go to the dealer locator on the website, you will find shops all around you. I wouldn't buy or think of buying a bike in that price range until I have ridden all of the bikes on your list and I would certainly add Felt to your list....
Then you can keep your Trek 2000 for a - trainer, bad weather bike, beater...😄

Hey pedals - it's rare to see an athletic biker chic! What are your stats? Like height, weight, dress size, and best avg speed per heart rate? What's your highest top speed in the flats with no wind?
