They were good frames in their day, and many still ride them. Maybe too stiff for some. If thinking about buying,make sure the rear dropout spacing is wide enough for current 130mm spaced 8,9, or 10 speed hubs, if it's only 7 speed and you have notions about upgrading.

600 was often refered to as ultegra..in 8 speed stuff is was just below DA.

It all depends on the component set and condition, xsmoker, but generally speaking, $200 is peanuts for a bike. The only place you can find an adult bike new for $200 is at Walmart. -
Friend of mine just sold one of those for $175 a so $200 is in line. Granted it is an outdated model, but it is a cheap way into the sport. If you get hooked you can always upgrade, if you loose interest you're not out bigger cash.

Sounds like a fine bargain to me, particularly if it comes with good tires and pedals. My Shimano 600 components from 1992 are still going strong.

Thanks for the input, a friend is looking at the bike, this will make him feel good about the purchase. BTW it has Look pedals.

Anything can be fixed except a bent frame , shops often have old bits hanging around that will sell for peanuts so see how it rides and then make your choice : does it suit MY needs ?
