Need help looking for a part

An LBS had a ferrule with a lip on it
that fit inside the clamp that worked

It sounds like you've found something that will work, but Harris
Cyclery sells many small parts for Sturmey-Archer installations:

FWIW: I had a yellow Schwinn Speedster three-speed back in 1973. It was
eventually stolen (and I had almost outgrown it), but I like to think
it's still rolling out there, somewhere.

BTW, mine is a 1973 yellow Schwinn Speedster 3-speed - and
I hope it's NOT your stolen bike! 🙂 I bought it from someone in
my area 2 yrs ago - he was the original owner.

I just passed up a 1973 Yellow Schwinn Speedster on Ebay. I went to see it
at an Ebay store in NJ while it was listed. It was nice, but the bidding was
getting out of control. It ended up going for $182 plus $75 shipping. (I
could have picked it up). I decided that I would rather apply that kind of
money towards a more modern bike for commuting. It turned out I was right. I
found a 2004 24 Speed Specialized Globe with fenders, racks, rear tire lock,
24 speed drivetrain with a chainguard, suspension fork and seat, generator
hub and lights, for $400.

Wow, I bought mine for $100 and it has a $50 (eBay price)
original speedometer on it, and a seat bag.

something to solve your problem, but for the sake of completeness I'd
