Natl Anthem never sounded better

Too bad it's a [censored] song. If it weren't designated the national anthem it would be long dead.

They should take up the suggestion of Ray Charles and change the anthem to "America the Beautiful"

Why not "My Country 'Tis of Thee"? That way the Brits could play along since they already know

Possibly true, but then again, that piece of cloth with 13 stars and 13 stripes would probably have
been relegated to dish rag duty if it wasn't designated as the national flag.

This will never happen. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing will be left to the discretion

I've always been in favor of that. The Star Spangled Banner is a battle song while America The
Beautiful captures many great feelings. I've heard many people suggest that.

I always thought the old Soviet anthem was a good tune. Wouldn't it be a nice touch if the US
adopted it now?

You have obviously never even studied the lyrics of the National Anthem then. Take some time out of
your obvious trolling to actually check out the meaning of the song before bashing it. It's also
quite apparent that you've either never taken the opportunity to or had the distinct honor of,
serving in the US Military, and therefore would be clueless as to what actual patriorism means. I
would suggest that you also take some time out of your day to reflect on what it really means to be
an American, and how this country actually started. Stop taking the founding of our country for
granted and consider the immense cost in doing so. It really offends those of us in uniform when
ignorant Americans make such comments. Oh, and if you're going to start ragging on the melody, that
goes to show that you really don't even CARE about the meaning of the song. If you really don't like
it that much, move to the country whose national anthem you like best.

No, not really. The Tour has been around 100 years, American success had been relatively recent and

The tune is the same. The Russians took the old Soviet anthem back in use 2-3 years ago, because
nobody really liked the new Russian anthem as much as they liked the gorgeous Soviet anthem. The
same guy who wrote the lyrics for the Soviet anthem 60 years earlier wrote the new lyrics.

I've played various musical instruments for 30 years. Used to play piano at a restaurant once a
week, play the occasional wedding, play the occasional charity function.

Last night I played the piano at the Heart of Gold charity function to benefit the Rancho Coastal
Humane Society.

A lot of what I play are my own arrangements. I've arranged the "Stars Spangled Banner" a few
ways, especially right after 9/11 (very much in demand then), and let me tell you, that melody
is terrible.

I've heard an awesome arrangement by Bela Fleck, but I'm not as good as he. That still doesn't
change the fact that, from a musical standpoint, that song sucks.
