I just tried the new Vanilla Mint flavor of Crest Whitening Expressions toothpaste, and it tastes like cake. I swear. It is so yummy. I've used the "brush your teeth" trick to kill sweet cravings before, but this stuff is da bomb. Hmm, I wonder if anything bad will happen if I brush my teeth too often . . .

i know you're probably joking, but it *is* possible to brush too often. you can definitely damage your tooth enamel. my ex-husband used to get scolded for brushing too hard; brushing too often is just as bad.

I've seen that advertised on American commercials and was wondering how it tasted.

You are a very brave soul. I've looked at those new flavours and wondered how they would be, but couldn't work up the nerve to try. Maybe next tube.

I just got that lecture from my dentist. I'm an old broad - and my eye teeth have grooves from brushing to hard. I've always used a hard toothbrush, and now must use a soft one. Gawd...everything goes soft with old age.

Well, the herbal mint was good, but I'm allergic to the cinnamon flavor. It didn't do anything to the inside of my mouth, but left red splotches on my chin where it dribbled.

Yes, I was joking. I wonder how much is "too much" though. I've been eating 5 or 6 small meals a day instead of 2 or 3 big ones, so if I brush after every small meal, I wonder if that would be too often.

Brushing twice a day for me is plenty and the rest of the time I just rinse my mouth out with water and mouthwash or chew a peice of sugarless gum after rinsing with water. Also try to brush for more then 2 minutes. Some people just do it for a few seconds and figure it is enough but it is not.

It seems like I brush for at least 2 minutes, but I will time myself next time and find out for sure.

i would say yes. two or three times a day should be more than enough, unless your metabolism is such that it produces plaque at an advanced rate.

Too much brushing with a hard brush will errode the tissue at your gun line where the teeth and tissue meet, then the tooth gets exposed too much and you get sensitive teeth. Laureen

That's true. My dentist said one good brushing and flossing a day for a few minutes is all you need to do. After any other meals, just rinse your mouth out with water and floss.

I use a medium toothbrush myself.
I think most dentists recommend at least a soft, if not ultra-soft brush, to prevent excess enamel wear.

I think you're right...but a harder-bristled brush is so much more satisfying to brush with, IMO. Really feels like you're attackin' the plaque. But I follow my dentist's recommendation and brush with a soft brush, anyway.

That's not really an allergy. Cinnamon toothpaste does that to me too, becuse it's acidic. I once wanted to mix cinnamon and rose essential oils for perfume and was warned explicitly about this. Cinnamon oil is something that most people should use in moderation.

That is why I use a medium bristled brush. Presently I am actually considering buying one of those Sonic-care toothbrushes as an early birthday gift to myself.

That cinnamon toothpaste reminds me of the little cinnamon hearts that are out at Valentine's Day.
