  1. I have an electric citrus juicer - I think it's Krup brand and a good
one. I got a bag of medium size oranges (6) from a dollar store and
to my amazement tjhey are realy good. I am thinking to get soekm more
if I can do this: use the citru juicer to juice them and keep the
juice in the fridge for the whole week. Would it be a bad idea?

I need this answer soon as I am going out ..

Yes, I'd plan on no more than around 3 days in the fridge.

What would be the point of doing a week's worth at once? OJ's flavor
deteriorates over time, freshly juiced is always best. Just keep the
bag(s) of oranges in a cool place and juice them as needed each day.
We keep our oranges on the tree and squeeze them in the morning when
we want them. Can't imagine juicing in quantity in advance. -aem

There's no point in making fresh squeezed if it's going to hang around
until it's no longer fresh squeezed.... fresh squeezed citrus should
be consumed within a few minutes of squeezing. Six juice oranges are
going to produce eight-twelve ounces of juice, hardly a deluge. The
best way to store OJ is in the orange in the fridge, squeeze only when
ready to consume. Otherwise buy packaged juice.

Not to mention that vitamins are lost when exposed to the air.

Yes, sir. The onlyut thing is that I am in a city 1 3/4 away during
the week where I left my other juicer btw and I don't want to carry
this citrus juicer. Guess, I'd better carry it like I do with my
Magic Bullet blender for protein shake.

I hope that my roommate (temporary) over there would not complain
about taking up the space when I put some of my oranges in the fridge.
The climate there is cooler than here. What if I put them in the
drawer under the oven? Would it be a bad idea? If not, I am thinking
to buy a lot so that I can have an orange (from 2 oranges) every day
when I am there for a couple of weeks.

I think I'll bring back my other juicer - the one I use for carrot -
and keep it here. BTW, if I use that juicer to make orange juice, I
won't get as much juice as with citrus juicer, right?

Hmm. one thing I can do is, juice them on Monday morning (unless I am
in a riiush to get on the road) and use it up by Wednesday.

Of course you didn't tell us this whole story before. So you're away
from home and have what you think is a bargain on oranges available.
BFD. Haul your oranges along with you, they don't need special
storage care, leave your fancy powered juicer home. Get up in the
morning and when you're safe to handle a knife, cut a couple of
oranges into quarters. Pick each quarter up in succession and squeeze
it with your hand over a large glass. Juice will emanate, and if you
aim correctly, the glass will collect it. Throw the orange away,
drink the juice. I don't know which is greater, your idiocy for
posting this as though it were a problem, or our idiocy in bothering
    to respond. -aem

I don't know, but I do know the juice will taste different. If you're
going to juice oranges one day at a time, you won't need an electric
juicer. Just get a regular one that you do by hand. It couldn't take
more than a minute or two total and the clean up will be faster.

For one persone really need nothing more than a small sharp knife...
quarter the orange and then slice each wedge into thirds... flick out
any pips with the knife tip... suck the juice from each small wedge.
Hold a glass under your chin to catch the dribbles if so inclined.

I don't much care for electric/power juicers unless you're going to do
oranges by the crate, those thingies require more effort to clean than
squeezing a few by hand. I have one of those cam action squeezers
wehere you simply pull a handle, gets out every last drop and clean up
    is a breeze.

Mine is old, white enameled instead of chrome, cost half as much 20
years ago... but it's a great citrus squeezer (does all sizes, from
small limes to jumbo grapefruit), strains out the pips, easy to clean,
and and takes very little cupboard space... it's actually fun to use:

    Mine is this http://tinyurl.com/2u46ax

It doesn't waste the juice and easy to clean

Your idiocy because you assumed that I have the same hand strength
    that you have.

I can brely get up and mkae it to work on time every monring. I don't
have time to get the gett he knife and cutting borad out, juice by
hand, and put away the stuff, etc. etc. But I will just take the
orange and a knife to work. I will strat doing this: I'll take a break
in mid afternooon and eat my orange along with other snacks 🙂
