  1. can cry any time that he wants and he will be comforted, as
long as his crying is not trying to manipulate others. Just
because he cries and is comforted does not mean that he is
going to get whatever he wants.

He is so incredibly precious. Sometimes he will just cry "I
need love" immediately upon discovering that his
manipulative crying pisses me off, and then he will get all
of the love and affection that he wants, but he will still
not get that candy that he wanted. LOVE IS NOT
PERMISSIVENESS. Love definitely includes hugs and kisses.

(And, BTW, he did not get circumcized. I told the hospital
that he could be circumcized, but only over my dead body.)

signed: Mitchell's incredibly proud and lucky Daddy.

P.S. Is it OK to worship the ground that your children walk
on? Is it OK to cover them with kisses? Is it OK to
love your 5 year old so much that he wants to ride "Daddy-
back" all day long? I sure hope so because I would not
    want to be politically incorrect.

P.P.S. It seems that our culture is struggling between the
    duality of loving/affection and order/discipline. I have
risen above that duality and have mastered it. I pour
love and affection on my children and I also keep them
in line. Does anyone have a problem with that?

    ....etc etc etc.

What is this emetic glurge doing on m.h.a, anyway? Were you
concerned that someone here might have swallowed a toxic
substance and had no ipecac available?

(As a counteragent to the posting, I suggest "Benjy: A
Ferocious Fairy Tale" by Edwin O'Connor. It's out of print,
but your library might have it. Hilarous, and Benjy's mother
will remind you of Roger Bird.)

-- David Wright :: alphabeta at prodigy.net These are my
opinions only, but they're almost always correct. "If I
have not seen as far as others, it is because giants were
standing on my shoulders." (Hal Abelson, MIT)

  3. I suggest it to be different in the western style, I know
families living in southeastern Asia, visited their homes,
noticed even though they had many bedrooms empty but many
times, many time the child would sleep with mom right up to
20 years old. I heard this is very common and can go on
until later on in life. I had to laugh, I helped some Asian
students with their studies here in the west, I tried to
explain to one what a nursing home was, the old folks home
as we sugar coat it. She didn't understand why I had empty
rooms but mamma had to stay at the nursing home. She also
made a dime income in the west and she sent a dime over to
mamma and papa. Even though the parents pay dearly for their
childs expenses here in the west, the Asian child still sent
as much as she could to the parents. Feels an owing to the
parents for birth and university etc. This lasts forever.
Totally different in the west. I think the western human
being requires more nurturing and longer than any other
    organism or life on earth.

Actually, it was in response to someone concerned
about circumcision, but this board does not always
    respond as expected.

It also served the purpose of drawing out debunkers and show
that they are basically an evil, mean-spirited lot who only
pretend to care about other people. Their real purpose is to
destroy and hurt because they have black hearts and are paid
by other evil scum-bags to discredit anything that shows
    promise or light or goodness.

You can say that again -- since your posting wasn't a follow-
up to another and the mention of circumcision came out of
    the clear blue.

It did nothing of the sort. It was a specious bit of treacle
that had nothing to do with alternative medicine. It was
just you, boasting about what a wonderful parent you are.
Except for the part where you got to beat your tiny chest
about how you kept those bad doctors (or whoever it was)
    from circumcizing your son.

[If they wanted to circumcize your daughter, I'd be very
    much opposed to that.]

Your posting showed none of the three. Man, you
*couldn't* pay me to read that kind of [censored]. I'm not that
    in need of money.

You could not be more wrong, Jan. Again, [censored]!

You are nuts. Emotions are a strength, and, for you to say
that on Memorial Day, is despicable.

It is people like you who make me feel that I should have
    gone to Canada.

I mostly see flaming bags of gas when I contemplate Roger
    Bird or Jan Drew.

Well, well, well... Jan Drew talks about a "gang". THE gang,
the REAL one, is the naturopath mafia, which cashes in the
    big bucks...

And Jan Drew is their advertizing agency.

Jan Drew seeds hatred and spreads false information, and
    plain lies, day for day.

    More about Jan Drew :

To fall for the lies of Jan Drew can be a terrible risk for
the life of you and your children.
