They did road bikes? Damn, wish I got one 🙂 I can't believe my first
road bike experience was last year. Switching from Dutch's road bike
(which I still haven't paid for), I realised that I think I definitely
got a frame that was too large -- I'm too stretched out on this one.

Hmm, you're right. I know it _had_ them when I bought it. I vaguely
recall that they weren't *cool* so maybe I took them off. Or maybe the
flowers are covering them. Will have to investigate further. 🙂

Freaky..! I had the same one. Certainly not one size fits all though.
I got mine in year 9 and I think I'd almost stopped growing by then.
I'm only 164 cm! Mind you, I probably had it set up all skewif. Loved
the freedom it gave me. My older brother had one too (my Mum got
crapped off with driving us to school of a morning so bought two for a
discount at the K-Mart in Airport West) and I once watched him tackle a
teachers car from the front on the way to school one morning. Lucky
[censored] ended up with a new paint job for that. The teacher nearly
ended up with a heart-attack when my brother climbed up from under her
engine complaining that she had squished his bike.

Ah... those were the days... when the wind used to blow through my
hair... And that's not just because helmets weren't compulsory, I
actually had hair!

Yep, $130 of pure bred Kmart road bike. You are looking at a genuine
Cyclops Javelin, complete with suicide levers and stem mounted
shifters. I got on the thing and realised how clueless I was
regarding saddle height (way too low!) and frame size. I'm 193cm and
I'm pretty sure I'd stopped growing when I got that bike. OTOH,
I think Kmart bikes were one size fits all. It still has a combo lock
around the seat tube. Couldn't remember combo. Good to see the bike is
still getting some use. 🙂

nice chain, has that trendy ferrous hue people pay landscape designers indecent amounts to colour mix , goes well with the pastel mauve garden fixture scheme,

have to ask, is that a setting scene from bike heaven? 🙂

🙂 Nope, the bikes original paint scheme was silver, looks like
my mum decided to spare some bits the mauve house paint treatment.

Yeah, I went all over the place on the thing. It came standard with a
rack on the back, to which I wired a Masters milk crate. Used to carry
all sorts of stuff around the place. A friend had a similar setup and
had a car battery in his crate, powering a CB radio attached to the bike.
I had a 3 channel hand held CB and we'd ride around opposite sides of
the Swan river chatting to each other and to people in Kings Park. Took
the rack off at some stage. Still trying to remember if it came with
mudguards, 'cos if it did, they would have come off on day one. 🙂

*sigh*. Back to the drugery of piloting Cisco routers and stuff...

I think mine had mudguards but the short variety that provided little to
no protection in the mud. Mine was silver but my brother got a slick
red number. I've actually still got the wheels brakes off it in my shed
at home... 20 years later!!
