Well after looking at the Specialized Roubaix and not quite finding the write fit I stumbeled upon this deal from Supergo so I drove down to Seattle to give it a test ride. I rode the bike down the block a couple times (with just regular pedals) and it felt great.
Scattante 2003 CFR carbon fiber frame, full double ultegra, shimano 540 wheelset, shimano R600 pedals and I think that's most of the important stuff.
Price ended up being $1250 for the bike ($1300 if I wanted the triple) and $100 for the pedals, then i started adding shoes and all that jazz walking out with lighter pockets than intended :o

I'm still getting used to the cleats so I think I'm gonna spend the weekend in an empty parking lot riding around and practicing getting in and (most importantly) out and then it's off on the 30km trek to work on monday for my first real ride.
