    I made a number of posts last year requesting advice on various
    aspects of a new bike I was planning to purchase. The comments on this
    group (both to my questions and in the archive) were very helpful in
    getting toward my final decision.

    I purchased a Merida Crossway, customising it with:

    Hub nexus 8 spd SG-8R25 kit roller brake
    34t front sprocket
    21t rear sprocket
    Rear rim 700 Mavic A719 Blk 36
    Rear spokes DT Champion 14G 36
    Rohloff chain tensioner
    Brooks Saddle B17
    Schwalbe Marathon tyres

    I also added:

    Rack Topeak Supertourist
    Echo computer
    Bottle cages and bottles *2
    Kryptonite cable lock EZ 8mm*150
    Trail pack Vaude light 15
    Cateye opticube
    Rear light from the 1980s
    Back-up led lights front and back
    Topeak roadmorph pump
    Mission-x bar ends

    Still to come:
    Combination pedals
    Single wheeled trailer
    Front brake upgrade
    Possible front wheel upgrade to Sun Rhino with hub dynamo
    Topeak supertourist trunk bag

    Total final cost anticipated to be about £1,500.
