I hold my hand up...i admit it. I am a motorsport fan. Rally, F1, JGTC, DTM, BTCC etc...

but Nascar....[censored] me. A bunch or American Muscle cars going round and round and round and round...

put a house brick on the gas and an elcastic band on the steering wheel...all go to the pub and come back 2 hours later to see which car won....effing marevllous. Now thats sport!

Mindnumbing. where is the excitement or the challenge or the skill?

The circuit is oval shape. How on earth don't these dimwits get bored?

There is nothing better than watching an Impreza WRC or the like thrashing through the frozen Swedish forests at night doing 100mph+ on gravel single-track. 150 gear changes in 5 minutes. Thats skill. Not this Nascar pish.

edit: why dont Americans compete on a world level in motorsports? i.e. WRC, F1 etc...they always like to crown themselves world champions at sports in which THEY are the only competitors.

  3. Where is the TOLERANCE? While I'm no NASCAR expert, I do know they have a few road races so it isn't all left turns.

NASCAR made a miracle comeback, eventually surpassing CART (now dead) and IRL.

They are NOT muscle cars but look-alikes pinned over a tubular chrome moly space frame. Sure, there are restrictor plates and everyone runs a very similar V-8 but all other racing styles have similar regulations.

Its all about advertising and NASCAR does better on that part than any other racing league.

  5. Oh yea, just a note, if there are any "nascar fans" reading this, Im not talking about you, I'm talking about the ones will never read this..........so dont get all fired up and do what ever the [censored] you do when you get [censored]. Ok?

  6. Like the others said, going @ in a circle really fast, BFD !!! Its all about advertising beer, motor oil, & power tools. Its a "red state" pasttime. 'nuff said.

  7. Quite a few "Blue Staters" are big fans. IIRC, there is a race in New Hampshire.

Its called TOLERANCE. But I see the bigger picture here. NASCAR is very big. Who is that Dupont Fritos guy? No alcohol, oil or tobacco there, just very deep pockets. And people making money are just mean, evil and generally bad.

As a former president once said "the buisiness of america is buisiness." So you, and I, are correct about the $ aspect. That would cover "wrasslin" too, i suspect.

  9. You are just upset Ronald Reagen's pardon of Junior Johnson assured NASCAR fans would vote Republican for the next 50 years!

Now it was rumored Lyndon Baines Johnson muttered the following while signing the Civil Rights Act of 1964..."with this bill, I have assured ******* will be voting Democrat for the next 50 years".

well i for one dont want to watch a bunch of advertising hordings going round in a circle all day. Its not my idea of sport. What about all the deadheads that turn up to the stadium ?

"Deadheads"? Last time I checked, they were Parrot Heads, Toby Keith fans and even Cletus T. Judd fans but not many followers of The Grateful Dead. Nothing like RTF's though. Infield campouts.

I've been to many CART events, even meeting Dario Franchetti (and Ashley Judd) and having lunch with his father. I've also been to several ALMS races. But I've yet to go to a NASCAR race as the tickets to the road events are too expensive.

I see..This coming from someone who hails of the bustling metropolis of Owensboro population 54k and some change?lol oh, I suppose you were one of the 21.5% that didn’t graduate from H.S. since you can’t even spell freaking Earnhardt correctly not to mention you can’t complete a sentence without evoking the “F” word…Yes, what a polished individual you are… :p Redneck

Concerning your question, “road course” drivers or “hired guns” that are paid to compete at the few “road course” races in the NASCAR circuit still get their asses kicked by the American drivers that are used to going around in a circle, oval or triad…Real shame. While I don’t allude that NASCAR drivers are more talented than those who drive in other forms of racing, they are certainly athletes and certainly possess skill and have a following and much to your dismay, many fans live in “blue” states and the average income of NASCAR fans is above the national average income.

Concerning last part of your post, you are wrong again. Perhaps you need to pay more attention to the world revolving around you. Lance Armstrong…Heard of him? Yes, 7 time TDF Champion. I don't recall the TDF being americans only Tiger Woods? Heard of him? American Olympic Hockey team…yeah, we won a gold sometime ago…soccer Don’t recall us inventing that sport. Basketball, invented in a little YMCA in Merica. I believe other countries participate in that sport do they not? Baseball? Tennis? Swimming? Etc, etc, etc…

Let not your heart be troubled....

Don't care for it. It is boring to me or I assume it would be if I actually watched it, but I don't let NASCAR bother me as in a multitude of other things that I don't give a rats a** about. There again a lot of NASCAR enthusiast do not like football and I do.
I don't like ballet but I hope I don't get condemed for it.

I guess a good question would be, as in any sport.. how fast would they be going if the cars were man powered?

  15. Not my cup of tea either. If I want to watch an activity on an oval, I'll go to Trexlertown and watch the trackies, or a high school or college track & field meet. At least they're operating under their own power.

But I have nothing against nascar fans. To each their own. It just seems a horrible waste of fuel to me.

I am in middle school, I make good grades [A B average] liberal minded, and I HATE rednecks. So I thought I would use the word [censored] to show my hatred for them. Living in owensboro just pisses me off, you know what im sayin? Im always around the wrong people, [stupid f@#$ing close minded red necks] Im sorry I made mistake in the spelling of earnheardt, That just shows how much I care about nascar, I cant even spell his name! and do you think I like living in owensboro? [censored] owensboro! this place is dead! all there is to do is go cycling! Have you ever seen a cycling red neck? In the funny looking shorts and the nicely kept road bike?

And now class - how not to win an argument.

As you can see from above, the author attempts to justify his point, which is then completely blown to smithereens when he invokes the attendance of someone called "Cletus", at a Nascar rally.

As they say in the bayou - "bring on them there, banjos".

  18. And Oh yes, [censored] YOU TOBY KEITH

In the 60's it might have held some interest for me, when they were closer to your avg. car but now they are just expensive, over engineered, cars w/ plastic bodies, a shadow of their former selves. No relation to cars of yester-year other than their wheels are comprised of rubber. Same goes for bikes, to some extent, & to the riders who, many of; now use dope & transfusions.

Yes, i don't care too much for fascist, republican party-certified, "hillbilly noise" (country music) of the "I'm more patriotic than you" variety. The greatest patriots, of this county's history, didn't go around "shouting it from the rooftops". Even Jesus's follower's said to pray in private, not in the public square, so as not to appear pious but to be pious.
