Please re-read the thread - you'll see that there is some tongue in cheek humour regarding Americans in general, and some debate about global warming and whether this is linked to the hurricanes, but I don't think there's any indifference to the plight of the Americans in New Orleans.
There does appear to be some hostility from both sides when differing views are expressed, but surely that's to be expected in any debate which touches on politics. It's sad, but it's to be expected.
