Who would have thought it impossible to do 70kms on 450calories?! I certainly wasnt thinking this morning when I rode out on my trusty steed. The day after a typhoon and a weeks worth of rain makes the brain waterlogged. I figured I was going for a short day, lots of hills, but certainly not a lot of miles. Instead the sun pushed me on, mocked me, and the hid beneath a wall of storm clouds. The headache began and I figured it was dehydration, but after stopping and having an entire waterbottle it continued. Figuring something was up (as the peanutbutter crackers didnt do a DAMN thing) I began to head home.
10 kms to go and I almost get taken out by a car runnning a red light. Bruised shoulder, black and blue hand (hope it isnt broken, typing with one) and then it hits. The adrenaline doesnt do anything for me. I am slogging it. I cant think straight. I began to bargain with myself, `Just a little bit more and...and...` AND THEN I BLOW MY TUBE! Life is cruel, 4 kms to home.
Finally after coaxing myself out of catching a cab, I make it home and immediately down an energy gel, prepare some rice, and shower.
A day I will most certainly learn from.
