  1. Hello,
Does anyone have advice on how to keep your feet from falling asleep? I have speedplay pedals and my shoes fit fine. I try and move around on the seat to change riding positions, everything else (shoulders, hands, etc) feels fine. My feet fall asleep though.

    Thank you!

    Thank you!

I have the same symptom. I loose my shoes a little bit after riding 2 hours and that makes it feel so much better. It does help but the numbness doesn¡¯t go away until I get off the bike.

  3. maybe your shoes are too tight... or you can do is flex your foot/feet every once in a while to circulate the blood

I've also got speedplays (love them). I make sure my shoes are loose when I start. Your feet will swell. Try having them even looser than you are, and wear very skinny socks.

I also stand periodically. This helps general circulation in your legs.

I also like to unclip and shake my leg. This seems to help.

How long into your rides does this happen?

It usually doesn't happen until about 45 mins or so. It's strange, it's not bad, they just tingle. I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this. I assume it's kind of like the saddle soreness, I'll just have to get used to it. I'm pretty new to riding.

    Hi

I've found bad fitting shoes or pedals with a small contact area can cause this.

    cheers

Yes this is common, and usually has something to do with fit of either the bike or the shoes. Personally, I think there is some adaptation over time, but fixing the fit is the most important.

Swelling is restricting blood flow to your feet just enough to make them tingle. Could be shoes, could be bike position, or it could be something else.

After 45 minutes, you are warmed up. That means your tissues are a little swollen. This is true in your feet. Try loosening the shoes a little over time. Unclip shake your leg (you, just like the hokey-pokey) and then clip back in.
