Before I had my daughter, I usually weighed around 150. Now that I'm getting
closer and closer to that weight, I'm really NOT recognizing my body! I had
always kept my extra weight in my hips and upper thighs, my waist and
calves/knees weren't skinny, but were normal. I had a normal hip to waist
ratio, and looked more feminine. Now my hips are shrinking, and I'm starting to
look more and more like a man. It's kind of disturbing to me. I've lost 4" more
from my hips than my waist! And I'm still not apple-like, my stomach doesn't
exactly protrude in the front, it just seems too thick on the sides. But I'm
comparing it to my hips I guess. And my LEGS are the worst. I still can't show
them in public, they look like tree trunks! They are getting better, I don't
have 'cankles' anymore, and the jiggle is reduced, but they continue to
frighten me. It's like all the fat from my hips fell down around my legs! Has
anybody else seen or experienced this? I had always heard that Atkins would
make you lose in the waistline first, and I'm experiencing the opposite it
would seem. I may have to rethink my goal. 23 pounds more may not be enough. I
guess I'll have to see.

I've noticed that my body shape has changed, too, but I'm still 35 lbs from
goal so maybe for me, it's just the way I'm losing. I'm losing the most
from my waist. My legs, particularly my calves, seem smaller than I can
ever remember them being (I always had very muscular/large manly calves). I
look more exaggeratedly feminine than I did the last time I was at this
weight. I used to not have a butt... but now I have one. I guess that's
okay, but the same clothes I used to wear no longer fit me right even though
it's the right size... kind of annoying. The biggest difference I've
noticed is that my breasts WILL NOT SHRINK. I'm really hoping that will
change, but it's okay if that's the last thing to go. I've lost 55 lbs and
am still the same bust size as when I was obese.
Another thing I'm really noticing... the more weight I seem to lose, the
more of an impact it has on my shape. Like, the first 10 lbs I lost, that
was cool, but barely made an impact in my size or shape. Whereas the last
10 lbs I lost, when I went from 215 to 205, there have been drastic changes
(to me, at least) in my shape. So maybe you will be surprised as you lose
your last bit... you might become more curvy.--

Same thing is happening to me. My arms and thighs are shrinking, but I'm
looking like I have a gut which I never did, even when I was really fat. I
think it's because this kind of diet creats endocrine reactions that help
even out estrogen/insulin imbalances which are associated with 'female fat
storage patterns' and increased fat intake can also increase (slightly)
testosterone levels.I'm not terribly pleased about the gut...but the arms and thighs are nice.
🙂Peace,

I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday as I hung up my skirt which
fit just right, which was a 30" waistband. But, my goal is to fit into what I had when I got married and at 142...a
28" waistband. How could that be when I'm only 3.5 lbs. over what that
was? (Today I'm 145.5...at my wedding, 142). I don't know, but I know
that after having 5 kids, I now have a huge pile of fat that I know that I
didn't have before right in my lower abdomen, that I'm determined to work
off.I definitely don't think that even 135 (my goal) will be enough to get rid
of that is on my lower abdomen. I want to get rid of that, so I think
I'll have to go even lower. I restarted after the summer being "off" and
am getting rapidly where I was stabilized..which was about 142-143 for a
while. Hopefully I'll be back there within a week or so and really be able
to see a difference in the fat distribution. But, I agree with Spring. And Spring, if the bustline is the problem, they
say that the last place you put it on is the first place you take it off,
etc, which means the first place you put it on, is the last place you take
off...I can see that happening as my thighs are the last place that my
weight comes off. I think that next 10-15 lbs (putting me below my goal)
will finally make a difference. My legs will never be thin, I don't
think, as I'd probably look terrible, if so, but I'd like them to not rub
together. So, I'd say that my waist measurement is still about 2" bigger than I was
before having kids. I'm sure that my "bones" didn't expand...I just have
the fat in different places. So, I'll try to get it off. There really is
no reason I can't get it off, I don't think.Becky P.

http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/lcer09/my_photosGive me a break, LCer, you look fantastic! Look how far you've come!
However, I know what you mean. After losing 35 lbs. I still have a bag
on each inner thigh and one in the front like I'm about 4 months
pregnant. LOL, guess I ought to be glad, I use to look 5 or 6 months
pregnant. That was fine when I actually was. Hehe. I've been
exercising 5 days a week (alternating walking with aerobics and weight
training) and little or no change to those areas. I'm hoping that
reaching goal (about 15-20 lbs. more) will help. -

It's my hips that have completely deflated! Oh well, I was nitpicking over it
last night and my husband pointed out that no matter what, I look 100X better
than I did this time last year. He's right, I should appreciate what I have,
not pick over what I don't, LOL!

my saddle bags (they also slide UP, depending on the position of my legs :-)--
