  1. Hey

This may have been posted before or somewhere else, but this is my first time, so if I am wrong, please point me in the right direction.

I want to put together some music to spin to on my MP3, with slow stuff to start with building up to faster stuff and then slowing down for a warm down period, to start with about 20 minutes worth, and then building up to a 40 minute workout.

Anyone got any good tips for songs, or information of where I may find CD track listings, I seem to only have found DVDs.

    Thankyoouu

    Liz

  2. A file swapping program called Limewire is a good place to find and download just about any song you can think of. The program and downloading songs is free but there is debate as to whether it's legal or not. At the moment the music industry greedy gits are going after people who have downloaded songs in the thousands, so as long as you don't go silly on it, you should be safe. No-one's came knocking on my door yet anyway!! Just type in 'Limewire' on your internet browser search engine thingy and go to the official site. I wouldn't use other sites coz you never know if they've got viruses and stuff. Hope that helps. WELCOME TO THE MAD HOUSE!!!

    Bill.

  3. This is something I have considered for both spinning and the treadmill... I think it would be best if you could use your own favorite songs.

I would love to see some software that either automatically detects the rythm of a song or allows you to tap a keyboard key in time with it for a while in order to get a tempo. Then I could use some of the hours of MP3s I have in order to help my workout.

In the gym where I do treadmill and cycle machines they have an internal radio system that always has two options, and I love it when I find one with just the right rythm for the pace I want to keep... The other day I was listening to a song that kept me right at 102 RPM... But, I forget what it was. 🙁

When I can exercise in rythm to music in a gym, the time goes much faster.

Does anyone know of software that can accomplish this?

  4. I go to www.Clubfmradio.com and they have a bunch of channels. I can plug my Mp3 player directly into my computer and just hit Record and it will go up to about 5 hours (no commercials). It's streaming music just like the radio, so you don't have to worry about legal issues and computer viruses like downloads. I prefer techno to train to, but they have everything on there. Make sure you have a pop-up blocker because they have been known for those too.

One of the only problems I found with this is that the music downloads as one big file so you cannot jump between songs, you have to Fast Forward or Rewind (generally not a problem for me)

  5. I'll withhold my opinion on the legality or ethics of downloading music.

What I find works even better than Limewire is a subscription service. I keep a windows laptop around just for Rhapsody and my MP3 player. For $14 a month, you can get unlimited songs for your MP3 player. The nice thing about it is, you don't have to spend hours trying to get some songs. I have practically every song I want, instantly available for download or syncing to my MP3 player. For instance, I have every Bob Dylan album stored locally and most of which is on my MP3 player. Try searching Limewire for Dylan and you'll get only his popular songs. Whether I put 1 song on there or 10,000, it still costs me $14 a month. Can't beat that.

I prefer Rhapsody to Yahoo and Napster. All of them offer either 14 days or 25 songs free. Try it and see if you like it.

I intentionally avoided that subject as well.

Call me old fashioned, but all of my MP3's are self ripped from my CD collection.

  7. Yeah we always want stuff like this. I just make a fast list and jump around with what I need. It will really depend upon your taste.

  8. Like a few of the commentators on here, I don't want to be promoting any illegal downloads. Listen to a bunch of stuff on Spotify, Soundcloud and Bandcamp that you feel will be great to spin to. If you enjoy the music, download it and support the creators of the music. Artists on Bancamp often sell their music under a PWYW model (Pay-What-You-Want). This is a completely ethical and cheap way to get hold of quality music that you enjoy.

  9. Limewire?

Man that takes me back many years. It was a great place to get music but many of the files were often infested with viruses, as was the actual Limewire program and some of what you were downloading was labelled incorrectly a lot.

  10. BabyMetal!!!

A change from Metallica in this post:

    The mighty Meshuggah!!!!

    Lamb of God:

  12. No Motorhead? I am disappointed 😉

I've been getting into a lot of new retro wave stuff recently. Some of it's pretty damn good and I should really make a playlist of it to cycle to.
