Anybody come across any preparations they swear by..A hot bath usually does the trick.
Muscle rubs work by irritating the skin and stimulating
blood flow to the skin capilliaries. The increase in flow
increases the skin temperature. Whether this actually
translates into an increase in muscle temperature I don't
know but the same effect can be had by having a hot
bath. That may not be manly enough for some, though :-D

Anybody come across any preparations they swear by..Another vote for a good soak in the tub. While I'm not usually a fan of
saunas (as I don't do heat that well), after a long day's XC skiing it's
a tremendous thing for getting back to life. Especially when
accompanied by a good stretching session and a large G&T! :-) I guess
it would work well after a long winter walk too, but I don't usually
have saunas available after those.Pete.

Anybody come across any preparations they swear by..After a hard workout in the gym I use the steam room or the sauna, followed
by a long hot shower. Helps the muscles relax properly especially if you do
some proper stretching exercises beforehand. If I've been walking then it's usually just a hot shower but I've since
learnt that stretching the used muscles gets the blood flowing into them
much better and prevents cramp in the legs at 2am!Nick

Much more effective if ingested ....

A shed load of carbs (my wife's home-made lasagne is a particular
favourite), plenty of squash (plus a nice real ale once properly
rehydrated) and a bath with Badedas bath oil (has extract of horse
chestnut in it, which peculoarly seems to hit the spot more than other
bath jobbys).Anth
