We are off (from Sydney Aus) to Scotland (Lewis) on a family visit in September. Five years ago I did two or three Munros and found that it was not a bad way to spend a day. Rather than do them on my own (my wife does not walk) I was wondering if there are clubs or groups that I could tag up with during the first few weeks of September.
I'm not a member of the Ramblers but if you do a search for Ramblers Scotland, contact them, they may put you in the right direction. There are groups all over Scotland and I'm sure some will be climbing a Munro or two during your stay.
There are numerous hill walking clubs but unless one of them reads this post I think the Rambler option would be a start.

There are no Munros on Lewis. Are you inteneding to visit the mainland?

Not I, because I'm too far away; however this sounds like a golden opportunity for an Expedition for all those urw-ers oop north who keep complaining that we never Expedit in Scotland. -- / Fran O(<|={ \

If only Lewis weren't quite so far away... (and as Andrew pointed out, without anything approaching a Munro closer than a 4 hour ferry ride distant - not that that matters particularly)

Indeed. I have just been told that we are staying in Skye from the 3rd to the 10th of September. I have bought a copy of the LP Walking in Scotland and am reading the chapter on Skye with some interest. George Quinn
