east of Commercial is impassable wilderness ("I hear there's dragons
patrolling the Cassiar connector!"😉

Outside of rush hour, driving from the steam clock to the velodrome will
take about 30 minutes on Hastings street.

Yeah, well racing around the Lower Mainland of British Columbia was
always a bit of a disaster for Davey; he much preferred things down
Washington State way.

After some rather scary near-death experiences with lack of money and an
offer by the volleyballers to take over the facility (if they could,
ahem, just get rid of that wooden thing taking up so much space around
the edge of the volleyball courts), the track is jumping.

The reason is because it's indoors, and provides a healthy outlet for
roadies in the winter. I don't think there's a trackie in town who would
trade it for the China Creek drome, no matter how close they lived to
the old site.
