Well, I hope the wind has died down for you. A colleague of mine in
Tokyo was going to climb it on Friday evening, but advised that the
wind was 30m/s it was not good.

Looking forward to some photos and/or a write up

  6. So I just woke up after a night of heavy celebrating. My body feels like
hell. Unicycling down Mt. Fuji was amazing. It was not easy.

My day started at 6:30am yesterday. I took the Marinouchi subway line
to Shinjuku and took a bus from there to Lake Kawaguchi and a local bus
from there to the 5th station. My pack weighed almost 45 lbs with the
unicycle attatched. Last time I climbed fuji-san it took me 8 hours 40
minutes. This time I set a new personal records thanks to my freinds
pushing me. I climbed in 3 hours 7 minutes.

From the begining I knew I was using the wrong equipment. I took a 24"
torker dx, with the street wheel it came with. The terrain on the way
down was mostly loose gravel with assorted rocks and boulders as
obstacles. Riding down took far more control than I thought it would,
and involved alot of sliding. At times I would move 7-8 feet and not
need to peddle. I had alot of really nasty UPD's. None of which I
inclded in the video I will put up. But when I wake back up later
today, I will make a video of those. I have a bruise on my butt/thigh
that is the size of a large pancake. I ripped part of a fingernail off,
knocked myself out once hitting my head on a rock, and took a
terrifying spill over the side of a switchback.

I would deffinetly have to recomend that if anyone has the chace to
ride fuji-san do it. I was not really a good enough rider to do it, and
was in way over my head, but I still have to recomend it.

Sorry for the ramblings, I am still drunk from last night.

We salute you, Cap'n, even if you're nuts!

Also, OUCH, on the injuries. You're a determined fellow.

  9. Congratulations - that looked very steep and dusty - your legs must have
been torched at the end. I hope you captured some UPD's on tape, those
always make a video more entertaining. Enjoy your stay in Japan, it is
    a beautiful country.

  10. Wow, you've set a benchmark with your Torker DX! Anyone who tries it
later on with a fat tire is a wuss. 🙂

Reminds me of my early days of MUni, with a regular 24 x 1.75" tire. It
sure makes you work harder! It can also take a "mundane" trail and make
    it challenging.
