No Cranky - it was a reference to the battle of San Jacinto, where the Texans attacked the Mexicans when they were sleeping. It's how they got Texas after they lost at the Alamo.

Bro is indeed a rare breed. Being a Queenslander though, maybe don't knock people going to bed at 9:30 and getting up too early - seems to be all the rage up there still.

I might have to reconsider where I relocate to now. Moving to Sydney or Melbourne has the added benefit of putting a plane fare between me and the rest of my family as well. After almost 20 years... I've grown accustomed to seeing them only once every 18 months or so... which has worked out great... [img]cyclingforums.combiggrin.gifOpen ↗[/img]

And thanks for the Texas history lesson. I lived in Houston for three years... so you'd think I'd know something about that. BTW... I always wondered why the Alamo guys were considered heroes and martyrs.... They were just US fugitives and Mexican revolutionaries IMO. Bunch of selfish and criminal land grabbers. In the context of Texas' subsequent independence from Mexico... they could erroneously be considered Texas patriots... but at the time it was just Mexico... and they weren't fighting for an independent Texas or for the US...they were just Mexican and US law-breakers fighting the Mexican government for their ill-gotten personal property.... because most of them couldn't go back to the US and face the law there for their previous US crimes.

I'm pretty sure I stayed up all night 20 years ago...in fact I didn't even go out until 9:30 or later...God, that was great. Before that whole responsibility thingie....:p I would even stay up all night now...if I could sleep in. 🙄 Damn. Now I'm depressed.

At least your being a sport about it. What do we have at the end of the day? It was funny. Being a straight male I could see where Crankyfeet was coming from but a sense of humor keeps the opinions in check and its not like your actually in my living room literally cheering in front of me. :p

You know what? I'm a big time poster on Crossdressers.com too. And I found out that there are rare few women that dig crossdressers! I hope to find a pretty woman that can dig my crossdressing as well as be my height and dress size! So I can dress her up in my big beautiful womens clothes collection!

I had a crossdressing problem since 1990 and have tried 5 times to quit purging my stuff and always came back. And after my last purge, biking alot to lose weight to go to 139 lbs, joining Crossdressers.com - I learned about fake breasts, wigs, and makeup and improved my look so much that I can go out shopping as a woman and pass 95 to 98% of the time! My crossdressing has taken on a whole new dimension as "experiencing life as a woman.' - But I don't mess around with men. I wear a ring and pretend I'm married.

I guess I'm entertainment fodder as far as crossdressing goes. Now I wonder if there are other crossdressers in this forum!

I think we are aware of this. Though it's hard to engineer. This forum has become a bit of a mutual back scratching place on that front... because we lost a lot of the feuding debates of the Armstrong/Landis years. But the members here have a great sense of humour and are pretty darn bright on average IMO. Hopefully... if we get on a new ship.... as much of us can relocate to preserve that community... and if CF dramatically improves with the owner letting in new members and finally talking with membership and responding to some questions... we can always return if it is better than where we are.

Hoping you can at least open an account at justcycling.myfastforum.orgindex.phpOpen ↗ to try it out Ava Marie. So far they seem like a very similar bunch to us and the forum is self-moderated.

As pro cycling goes, so goes bike forums. Cycling has been a pit of discontent and scandals the last few years and with the downfall of the elite, doping or not, the wind was taken from the sails.
It is a sad state of affairs that much of the mystique has been drained from what was a magical arena, if only a passing illusion.
There is really no one left in the ranks of the pros that evokes admiration or hate as to create controversy, and how many times can you tell someone to go to the damn bike shop for advise.
If you need to check your pulse every 15 mins. to see if you are dead, you probably are.

The new forum is just as broken as this one. Every time I go to that site a server connect prompt appears and it re-appears every time I open a new page no matter how many times I click the cancel button. This is, to put it mildly, really ****ing annoying and so unless that problem dissapears very quickly that forum can go throw itself off a cliff.

Are you sure you're at the right one? We flip-flopped about half way through the thread to a micron recommendation that so far is pretty darn good... about as ideal as one could hope for.
