Speilberg was making a statement. In real life the damm things almost
never go kaboom.

An exeption the other night on my most travelled bit of road in the UK
where a tanker apparently melted into a puddle. Still no actual kaboom
tho.

Doesnt Dennis weavers utter [censored] driving amaze you? Seriously. Out
cornered by a tanker. Sheesh.

Its actually a movie with real suspense. The suspense just doesnt work
with adds tho. ANd [censored] ..... I personly would have pulled the highway
flares from the boot and threatened the tanker driver with them > 🙂

I know. I still wanted to see a BLEVE. And with the shot of the fuel
dripping next to the electric fan. Hell, I picked the truck going off
the cliff when they first panned around and showed the cliff. The
movie should have been predictable enough to give me my BLEVE as
well. 🙂

The one that was carrying (IIRC) fireworks, and left a crater? Can't

Suspense? I was giggling everytime the jaws music came on.

The movie had no purpose. What triggered the road rage? Why wasn't
the trucker a menace to all the other drivers?

Why did he almost run into the cop car, and then keep going? Why
didn't the cop chase the obviously dodgy truck driver?

He had a couple of opportunities to call the cops too.

movie...

Schindler's List and The Colour Purple were much better

Sadly this is an example of what passes for 'media' or 'culture' creates people who are so terribly spoilt, ie: if it's outside your narrow cultural reference you don't comprehend it. etc etc etc. Intro, micro sound bites, quick edits, over produced [censored]....

You'll probably sit through All Quiet On The Western Front & think it was funny. Ditto anything directed by Andrei Tarkovsky.

Hey my evil ex was a trained pursuit driver. Her second husband was a
truck driver. And he ran her off the road. Both of em in cars. Always
struck me as rather sus. Surely she should have won a mudguard banging
session?

evader. THe police woman who showed wanted to book me for illegal
parking. At 4 in the morning. In a back street in Gladstone Park.

Hey, caught the new WOnka movie yesterday. lots a fun

keep an eye out for the cool Wonka-courier bikes scene with Red, faired, Rohloff-equipped bikes too. I WANT ONE!

truck.

Great movie, it just builds and builds and builds... It would never be
made today, as it requires an attention span.

my fave movie on truckies is The Wages of Fear , (Salaire de la peur, Le (1953) Wages of Fear (1953), it is a seemingly suicide mission of 4 truckies taking nitro to an oil fire, a classic of classics... and I get off on seeing trucks go "Kaboom"

Mine is "Smokey and the Bandit".

Well, it was when I was a 10yo. I loved the final scene with a single truck approaching that rapidly becomes many.. ahhh justice is served.. 🙂
