showing on BBC Scotland. AFAICT it wasn't on BBC 3 or 4 earlier this

followed by "A Bit of Fry and Laurie etc.

Ah but '50 Not Out' is repeated Saturday at 01:30 so you could record that
instead.

Yes it was on BBC 1 Scotland on Wednesday and is not on today (Friday)
in Scotland.

I had read there was a BBC4 repeat later but can't confirm that as I've
not got my Radio Times yet.

the website says it's delayed due to bad weather until 19 Aug.

Dougie Vipond would be the obvious choice since he's pretty well currently
cornered the market in presenting this sort of programming in Scotland.

He is the regular presenter on The Adventure Show. If you've not seen it,
it's a monthly hour of features on outdoor activities. It's shown on BBC2,
presumably only in Scotland. For the show, Dougie makes a decent attempt at
a few activities, such as climbing, running triathlons, I recall he did the
big cycling event which crosses the Bealach na Ba.

Our own Chris T also makes appearances on the programme.

Anyway, since the TV show is postponed for the day I suppose I'll have to go
and do some painting this afternoon instead. bah...

She looks a natural to me, a non-climber, and she has tremendous
courage. Her guide on the three climbs was the perfect partner for
her, I thought.
He had a touch of the Joe Brown/Don Willans gang about him, the slack
rope walking might have been one of their stunts...

He is still going strong and is still listed in the Alpine Club members
handbook. Certainly he has made several appearances at Alpine Club
events to mark the 150th anniversary of its formation.

I just meant the way she placed her hands and feet when moving over
it. The kind of familiarity I detected doesn't necessarily mean she
had ever climbed or hill walked before. I suspect it comes more from
the kind of terrain you got used to in early childhood. Due to
childhood illnesses I came late to climbing and hill walking, but
playing in quarries when I was very young had given me an
understanding of walking and scrambling on rough surfaces which
carried over in adulthood, and which lots of adults in our
over-protected civilisation never got as children, and it shows in the
way they walk and scramble over rough ground as adults.
