I spent several years training and racing but stopped after the 2002 season
ended for a rest. Unfortunately I have not raced at all and hardly trained
properly since.
What have others used to keep up motivation, particularly during the dark,
cold winter months?
Thanks,
Steve HUTCH.
Wow, Steve; I was just thinking the same thing. Especially with this
lack of sunshine lately, it's leaving me lethargic and not quite
myself. It's amazing to see the affects of your environment on
"motivation" or just simply, the desire to live. By "desire to live,"
I don't mean the "dying" context, I mean, just the desire to get up in
the morning for training, getting to work, actually working, coming
home, going to class, training, then going to bed. Man, that going to
bed thing just can't come sooner!
I think my biggest motivation is my expanding wasteline! Just
weighing myself and seeing that I've put on a few pounds motivates me
to get my a** in gear and start training again. I, too, haven't
really done any "gung ho" training or racing for a couple of years,
and I'm itching to do so again. I've got a client that I'm training
right now, too, so that is an additional motivation for me. Just
seeing her succeed and get herself into "training mode" forces me to
get "out there" and do my share of training to go with the so-called
"wisdom" she thinks I have! 🙂
Another thing that would help: hearing people discuss more about
their inspirations and training days and race reports...anything to
offset the bloody elections news that I can't stand hearing about any
longer!!! It doesn't help that I have a roomate that watches nothing
but election material and FOX News...arrrggghh! Anyway, working full
time, attending classes at night, and training fills up my days and
weeks. I feel selfish at times, because I haven't been able to "hang
out" more with my girlfriends, or even find a bloody date! I guess
I'm enjoying being a single, triathlete chic in Mootown. 🙂
I hope you can find something that motivates and inspires you to start
training more. 🙂
cheers! and happy training!
